GUNS & AMMO

Well in better news as if late......
Managed to snag some of the .22lr from bass pro today.
Also picked up the scope my brother wante for the rifle he is trying to get.
Nikon prostaff5. Their BDC setup with the phone app is just super cool. And will work perfect for the .270.

The .22lr sure did go quick.
definitely. Glad to be back up to a couple K of on hand rounds of it.

Is there any need to have a crazy spotting scope? We are looking for one just to practice/sight in the new rifle. maybe for some hunting trips?

A spotting scope is super convenient but not required. Its nice not having to walk a couple hundred yards every time you want to check your group. But cheap spotting scopes suck. They'll do the job but they always end up pissing me off in the end.

Brother got his new gun tonight. Savage 111 in 300wm. Up top is the prostaff5 BDC scope 3.5-14x40

Got tired of constantly having to un-jam the double feeds and bent rounds from my Mini 14. Hit up the Tanner show and worked a trade plus some cash for this new, never fired '04 Winchester Trapper .45 long Colt lever action. Always wanted one but could only find crappy Rossi's or off brands or other calibers.

I walked away from it at first, but my incredible wife reminded me that this vendor offered me the most for the Mini....and.... I would shoot and enjoy the Winchester, I'd never wanna shoot the Mini again. So, back I went.

Apparently I wasn't the only one that thought twice about this rifle...... While completing the deal.... The vendor was approached by a guy who said "when your done Rick, I'll take that rifle". Rick said "Sorry man.... This guy beat ya to it". :D

That it tis. What is it about lever actions, that make us want one? When my dad retired he had a winchester 30/30 lever action that he bought at Woolworths for probably $70. He asked me if I wanted it, along with the .45 government Colt from WW II, that he had. He didn't like the .45, and I saw no need for a deer rifle, so they were sold. One of a long line of regrets, but at least I lived long enough for regrets. :)
