Goatfest in Johnson Valley Nov 13-14

Got my charging issue band-aided, getting 14.9 now, one tenth of a volt under the limit!

Loading the Jeep now. I'll probably be hitting the lakebed somewhere between afternoon and evening depending on traffic and whether I need to pull over and work along the way.

I want to meet all you guys. I've been wheelin' for about a year and already gone through one XJ.. How will I know it's all of you?? I'll offer up a case of beer

After we put the kids to sleep, I'm going to install a front and gas tank skid tank. Tomorrow I need to weld up the rear driver wheel well. Then, I should be good to go. It looks like it'll be just Saturday for me.

Like Ryan said, look for all the Jeeps and buggies.
Here are directions:

BUT... I think you'll need more than a case of beer. There'll probably be 50 to 75 rigs out there... :pirate1:

Google Maps... type in "Boone Road & Highway 247, CA". Go there, take Boone north, follow the more popular way if it branches. You'll go over a small concrete bridge. When you reach a large flat area that used to be a lakebed, the "road" just kinda fades out into the lakebed. Look off ahead and maybe a bit to one side, depending on which way you're facing. Camp should be sorta on the north side of the lakebed, usually. It's not a King of the Hammers-type event weekend, so we should be distinguishable.

Knowing what color your rig is would help. I drive a white 98 two door, which is already out at camp (a friend drove it up).

I should be out there about 4pm Friday, coming up from San Diego and maneuvering my way to camp in a Mitsubishi Mirage--if Cal's Honda made it out there a few years ago, my Mitsu can too!

If you want, unless it's between 9am & 4pm Saturday (when I may be out of range, on a run), call or text six19 six54 nine758 from where you turn off Hwy 247 onto Boone Rd, and I'll do my best to come find you or send someone to find you. Don't show up too late on Saturday, as I'll be incapable of driving safely after about 7 or 8pm.

If all else fails, I know the numbers of some folks that are already out there, and they have cell signal--I sent them a picture of a carton of GoatMilk to show I was thinking about the event.

So show up! Sometime between now & Sunday noonish, when most folks are packed & heading home...

Yay, Elias!! It'd be nice to see you in the dirt, rather than at a Starbucks!

So what is this odd color, PeaceFrog--beige? Cream? Champagne? (and what's your Earth Name? :laugh3: Just kidding...) Hope to see you out there!

Ok so here is an update.. Sold the red one...bought me a...odd colored one..

sigh. might miss this. jeep idled fine, pulled out of the driveway to take it for a test drive, and it died in the street, now it wont idle more than 30 seconds. no jeep = no grimm.

if i can fix it in the AM i'll be there, but its not looking good ive been working on it since 4 oclock.

Don't jinx me Carol. I TOLD my wife that I was going off-roading this Saturday. I didn't ask if we had plans or even if she minded taking care of the boys for the whole day.. :anon:

I'll bring your shocks!

 Thanks for hanging on to them, for me. It's kind of funny how they are going to go over a hundred miles when we live about 15 miles apart.. :anon::anon:

Well I'm out guys :( I was driving up to lucerne today and found my starter hanging from my cracked aw4 bell housing... This is my 2nd bell housing in 2 weeks...any thoughts or condolences... :'(

Well.... Tonight didn't go as planned. I was only able to loosen the hitch bolts. Hopefully tomorrow I'll at least be able to install the gas tank skid plate.

If I don't make it, I'M BLAMING CAROL!!!!! :yap:
