Frame stiffeners thoughts and opinions...

I recently was at T&T customs website and took a look at their frame stiffenerz which got the old gears turning in my head. I didn't realize they were so inexpensive not including installation costs. They seem relatively easy to install minus the welding. I could probably do all the installation myself other than the welding. What are yall's thoughts and opinions of some frame stiffeners? T&T is just one brand that makes some, any others that might be better? Would frame stiffeners cause fitment issues with other products like long arm kits, skid plates, etc.?
 
The TNT kits are nice, but Im not so sure they are the best. They don't have as many places to weld, which means they don't have as many attachment points. I am have installed a couple sets of the HD Offroad engineering ones, and they are very nice. They probably have at least 100 rosette welds per side, which means the factory "frame rail" cannot flex inside of the stiffner. As far as installation, there really isn't anything to do other than welding. You could clean the frame up with a grinder and a flap disc, but other than that you would need a shop to put them on. I have a lot of experience with this stuff and I am a NAXJA sponsor. I would be happy to do the work for you. Send me a PM (either to Team Willys or to Rock Solid Fab) for a quote.

As far as interference with other products, they usually don't interfere. Most products have enough adjustment built into them to allow for differences between vehicles, such as stiffners.
 
RE long arm kit would get in the way because of the belly pan, ask me how I know.
 
I've got the HD Offroad Engineering set and I love them. Rock Solid put them on for me. :thumbup: No more dash "pop" like I had.

Rock Solid or HD OffRoad Fab? Both are or have been SEC Crawl sponsors. They are both NAXJA sponsors too. That carries a lot of weight for getting high recommendations for me. I've seen RSOR work and it is some of the best I've seen. I've also watched the installation of the HD OffRoad Fab stiffners and they are well made and install as advertised.

I just try and support the vendors who support NAXJA and especially the ones who support the SEC, know what I mean?

I'm running the Detours stiffeners/sliders, pure beef! Mark is a great guy to deal with and a XJ enthusiast.

As far as I know they will work with any long arm or drop bracket set up. I have the RE DB/braces and they work great.
 
My jeep creaks and moans around every corner so if it helps make it feel more solid then im all in. I wish I could get Rock Solid to put them on for me but Tennessee is a bit far from where I am at right now so I may have to put this off for a bit.
 
I see that HDOR sells the front/rear separately, Does anyone have experience installing the front sections on a MJ?
 
I had the T and J tubular stiffies on my first XJ (the plate variety were not available yet, back in the day...) and it made such a big difference....my wife noticed:scared:...there was no more creaking and squeaking:cheers:
I've got a set of TnT's in the garage...can't wait to get them on....James...
The tubular variety stopped me from considering long arms....they were in the way. I don't expect the plate's to cause any grief. My game plan is install the stiffies....take care of SYE...then TnT belly pan...and when time and money allow, add TnT's Y link long arms......someday....:D

I forgot, I also have a set of these on my other 96. I bought the T&J's before the newer style was available as well. They work great but attaching sliders to them was a pain.
 
Just an FYI guys I do have plenty of stiffeners in stock at the moment, and if they are in stock they ussualy go out teh same day.

Welded mine right to the tube....and to the pinch seam...worked well, until the tree fell on the truck......:wow:
