finaly got an XJ 99 limited with some stuff

My boots were too swampy to deal with and I just said F-- it.

I usually put in earplugs when using a torch under the Jeep, I had a blob end up in my ear while I was cutting off a bracket a while back.

well after some discussion with my brother and getting a 4.0 from work i'll be doing a mild build on that and putting it in here soon.

his thread showing the work and info

rebuild head, minor porting, cam, higher compression, fresh rings and if the pistons aren't still good new ones too. new 4.0 only has about 85k on it but since this was from Adams 99 TJ it's been used well over the years.

earlier i picked up some steel from another member here for my rock rails
back hatch is stuck closed and i can't get it open, didn't bring a ratchet strap for the roof so... out the window it goes.

then stripped that 4.0 down to a block to check out how the inside looked... well hitting the rev limiter while the jeep is upside down may not be good for a motor

what do most people do for front speakers when they take their doors off? i am thinking i'll add one under each front seat that i can plug in when the doors are off or maybe a front sound bar.

i want to get the kick panel enclosures, but they went from like 65 bucks a pair to just over 100 a pair. i still might get em eventually, depends on what i do with my tube work... i kinda wanna add something to tie the B and A pillars together in some sort of door-friendly door bar.

what enclosures were you looking at?

oh there is a place out in NY who does fab work, you should ask them how to best run the tube.

I can give a good recommendation.

At least that has the springs out further on the rear axle

As for front speakers with the doors off, I just turn the rears up louder haha

I wired up regular boom box speakers and left then in my back seat. it was alright. but then my friend stole the wires for his speakers. cough cough adam.

If you Need new wires i have a really good set in my xj I could pull if I get it back haha I don't use them anymore

well last week i started getting a little death wobble so i figured i needed ball joints. jacked it up and both tired were sloppy as hell, looked at the upper and noticed it was very lose and hand tight.

just by hand i can do this, also rotate it completely

in no way is this really right but hey it works and my only option, however the ball joint kit we borrowed doesn't have a sleeve that fits over the ball joint. need to make something up tomorrow or see what we have at work, however i can't get to work as the Jetta tranny is, well not sure but i can't drive the thing haha. tranny swap in that thing tomorrow.

what can i do to fix my ball joint problem? the axle knuckle is worn out but only in the camber play while caster is still tight.
