El Junky

From what I understand I just need to just match wires? And will have two left over?

Re: El Junky

great write up , the fun part is figuring out which wires are which. do i need to bring anything up?

El Junky

I saw a guy said he just matched colors.... I hope it's easy so the jeep can get beat on tomorrow night...

Re: El Junky

OK cool. I hope its just colors. you could always wire one up at a time and check continuity at the TCU maybe? Or wait, you dont have a TCU do you in a 97?

Yup... I traded my bent up currie for a brand new jcr setup... Reamed it all today and installed it! Looks beefy and bought some trail spares...

This has become one of my favorite ongoing threads on NAXJA.

I hope "El Junky" holds together for SierraFest, it'd be great to wheel with you.

Thanks! We'll not sure ill make it to Sierra fest but ill try...

El Junky

We'll today was eventful for junky... Got the steering on and dialed in... Went up billy bob and guess what happened??? Trans started leaking like it was before!!! So we turned around and started heading back down... I would stop ever once in a while and see how bad it was leaking... Which it wasnt leaking anymore for some reason... So I get back to the trailhead and couldn't get the damn thing to leak again... Checked the level and it was way over on the stick... So I'm confused as hell meow why it's overfilled... So I start driving home and stop before a hill climb to my house to check level again to find it still way over and still not leaking anymore... So I get it home and first thing I did was drain the trans to find it had a lot of fluid in it and it looked like this!
u5asa4e7.jpg

So now there is water in my fluid! So I bypassed the trans lines that go to the radiator thinking the rad was leaking coolant in the trans which it doesn't look like happened... So my buddy came over and we where talking about it and we noticed my motor mounts where shot... So he was thinking maybe that could cause everything to flex and maybe make it leak past the seal??? So replaced those real quick and still no leak... In the am ill check the bolts on the bellhousing to make sure they r tight then go wheel it and see if it will leak....

Any ideas people? Why would it leak like it was doing before and now won't leak for me... Also if it helps I was putting a lot of pressure on it when it started leaking....

Re: El Junky

I like the motormount theory but who knows. That looks like flat brain matter in the pan!! 44 question? was it the twisted spline shaft that broke or the other one? I have another jeep that is ready to be El-Junky2 since Jon doesn't want it anymore.

Huh? Lol I twisted the passenger side shaft at the beginning of the spline...

Re: El Junky

sorry terrance i actually might know another guy that might want it.
also, allen, did you say you where running the tranny lines through the stock radiator? that could be it. I would bypass that at once and get an aux tranny cooler instead.

I wonder if it was leaking because it was overfilled?

water could be from that other tranny ? didn't you guys say it water in it? Did you say you put your old torque converter back on? maybe that was the culprit?
