Of course Americans don't want the Republicans in power. Look at the mess they made!
I'm amused that neo-conservatives are abandoning a failed party and the party's label of Republican in droves, calling themselves "independent", or like Rick O'Donnel and Marilyn Musgrave, leaving the Republican label off of their untruthful ads.
It's always the most rabid and dogmatic who ignore the facts and dodge real and hard questions, instead focusing on bashing minorities or changing the subject from the major issues: The failed foreign policy in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the failing economic and domestic policy, including a failed energy policy. The head of the Colorado University Republicans told me, and I quote, "Corporations never do anything wrong or criminal." I showed him that days newspaper and an article about Pfizer corporation settling out of court in the multi-millions of dollars to avoid public disclosure that their medicine was killing people. True to his warped ideoology, he said that it proved nothing, and that it was "liberal bias". Right. Everything is liberal bias that confronts neo-conservative lies and deception. What rubbish.
I noticed that not one person on this forum was informed or convinced enough of his now broken ideology to defend the failed party platform of the Contract On America and the now completely derailed and corrupted Republican party. The Conservative Movement has been "betrayed" according to the experts such as George Will and William F. Buckley. Read their writings. These are their opinions, not my words. I challenge you to read them. Conservatism has some merits, but what is going on now in government is wholesale corruption and perversion of democratic principles.
I am a bit saddened but not totally surpised that not one person here was willing to engage in meaningful debate, instead prefering to use signatures and words that are offensive to party and individual (Planefixer), others using directly personal offenses (Rev Den). I did not defend my party and my affiliation and my personal beliefs until that signature was repeated a third time inside a post in very large type, demaning a defense. It was an ill informed and innacurate statement not based in fact, and I corrected it. I was civil before and after that, and my defense was personal but warranted. If you are going to spread propaganda, you shoud be prepared to defend yourself for lying.
The liberal Democrats do in fact have answers and the antidote for the extreme levels of corruption and disgusting perversion of justice that neo-conservatives have wrought.
It has been demonstrated before, back in 1933-34 with FDR and the New Deal, and it will be done again. Democrats have never shied away from the hard job of cleaning up in the wake of Republican corruption and unrestrained power. This time it will take longer, as there has been much more damage done to the founding documents and the faith of the American people in their representatives. The October 17th version of _The Enabling Acts_ is particularly aggregious and unlawful. Republicans should be ashamed of this wholescale slaughter of the justice system.
I dare say that even King George III would have rejected this bill and sent it back to parliament. This country is founded on justice. Without justice there can be no peace.
I am sickened by the extreme lengths that Republicans have gone to harm the American way of life. Some examples ripped from just today's headlines in local newspapers:
I see in the news today that Republicans have:
----------------------------------------------------
Created a situation where 7 million new people are now living in abject poverty and squalor.
11 million new cronically unemployed.
Covered up reports on IRS liens for Katrina victims prefering to release that horrific report a month late in November and lied about the cover up.
Covered up numerous reports on the consensus of man made effects of global warming coming from NASA, NOAA and other agencies.
Been accused of illegal voting, a felony (Anne Coulter)
And today's top story, making the evening news on at least two major broadcast television networks, possibly more:

Ted Haggard, who has been acused with evidence of having a long term relationship with a homosexual prostitute. He resigned today, confirming suspicions.
This story is political because he is a conservative evangelical pastor of a large church in Colorado Springs with 14,000 members and he is also a political advisor to the Bush administration.
Say what you will about me. As you can see, I don't care. Your insults indicate that you have no valid argument and that you are out of material.
These facts are indisputable and irrefutably prove that the Republican party is a failure on a massive scale. These facts stand.
Americans have already decided that the House will change control, and possibly the Senate as well. The Conservative Movement has been judged by the American people to be a miserable failure as implemented.
