i just bought a mossberg .17 hmr rifle and a marlin 795 .22 rifle and i hope that before this months over i'll buy maybe another gun... now my real question is... do i seriously have to pay the 25 dollars every single time i buy a freakin rifle or handgun!?! ... i think they should give you like a 1 month window or something...

ALSO... these 10 day waiting periods are BS for CA... i mean come on now if your going to commit ur first crime and needed a gun, wouldnt you just buy it 10 days in advance so you'd have it when you needed it?

You could try moving to a state with sane(er) gun laws. :D

Seriously, it sucks out there. I understand it's even worse in NY/NJ.

...and even worse in Illinois...

yeah well... before obama(osama) takes complete control over our guns and laws i want to buy as much as i can yanno? he cant take it from my house cuz it will be like the OK corral at my place all over again lol

Whcih $25 are you referring to? For the safety certificate?

You should stock up on ammo rather then guns. The "ban" you have to worry about is probably going to be bullets first, not guns

:laugh3:You are kidding, right? Watch a SWAT entry team in action some time. OK corral? Expecting a warning? It would be more like that BART officer video all over again!

Seriously, If you have purchased all your guns in the last 1/2 decade from FFLs, in California, the most likely course in the event of a ban will be you get a registered letter in the mail, followed by a court summons if you don't comply.

I'm Glad i live in Indiana. We don't have to pay any special fees for rifles!

NJ initially is a pain, you have to get a firearms ID card from your local police dept, thats a lifetime card. That covers long guns and you just buy whenever. Handguns on the other hand you need a permit to purchase so you go to the local PD, apply, wait and then go pick it up when they call you. Then you go buy it. Time varies, I knew all the police in my town so my permits to purchase took about 15 minutes, no idea how how long it would take otherwise.
PA is over the counter, they make a phone call, do an instant background check and you are good to go. CCW takes about 2 weeks or so once you fill out the paperwork, give them a picture and they send out the two reference cards though in my county they require a copy of your most recent nuisance employment tax, berkheimer tax, no other county does that, it's a backdoor way to make sure you are paying your taxes, collusion between the county sheriff and the local towns, as if my $5,000 school tax and $2,000 local property tax was not enough to prove residence.

It's been a couple years since I bought a gun.

I just looked at my receipt from 06. $30 for the DOJ fee. And $25 for the HSC.

In CT there is a 2 week waiting period on all long guns unless you have a hunting license or a pistol permit.
You need a pistol permit (permit to concealed carry) to buy any handgun.
And there is an AWB banning many guns by name or by feature unless its a pre ban.

im referring to the 25 dollar fee for the back ground check they make you do every single time you buy a gun. hence the reason CA has a 10 day waiting period.

Ahhhh, so thats what the 10 waiting period is, allows your check or credit card to clear, ingenious, no uncollected funds that way :D :D :D :D
