I like them both. Does Cagedxj have a website? Where did you buy them? Looking for details?

I think the mod looks great the way it is. I'm always a fan of seeing fasteners and such untouched. I like seeing how stuff is put together. MHO

I really like the painted look instead of the cheesy/flashy aluminum look.

what kind of paint and what kind of prep to make it stick?

Here is what I do to paint my boat motors. They hold up in Salt water. Academy or boating stores sell a self etching zinc rich primer. Scuf up the aluminum with steel wool and prime with that primer, then paint whatever you want. Should work great on these. You could also have them powder coated but that would run some bucks.

Now where do you get those Cagedxj ones?

P.S.
i run a set from XJNATION...

(wouldn't want to have to match the body bends even if i had a brake!)

terry "november rig of the month" :D

These sets really do help with the beating the doors take from rocks and tree stumps/roots. I dont do the Dianond Plate though since skid plating should slide over objects rather than provide them with traction. I am doing lowers doors/ 1/4s and upper 1/4s that go all the way to the bottom of the rear window.

Pm me or email [email protected] for more info.

actually in testing the raised sections of the diamond plate decrease the surface adhesion while rubbing on the rocks......not enough to make a difference either way though, both do what they are designed for. :laugh3:

You must test on different rock than I have around here. My first set was D-plate and they pulled pretty hard when a load was applied.

But some people have to have the bumpy stuff so good luck.

I used Duplicolor truck bed coating. It looks good and stands up pretty well.

Id black it out too. Nice job with the bends over the lower body line. They are critical for strength.

I must be missing somthing here. It says on the main thread page 28 min ago, but I get here and I get 1/5/06?

any time someone votes in the poll it updates the timestamp... so not necessarily a new post to the thread, just another vote.

For those of you that made your own, how did you bend it? Just put one end on the table and push hard on the other end and bend it? No special machines or jigs or anything? I want to make my own this weekend, probably 1/4". At the local hardware store they have 16-22 gauge steel in 12x24" sheets. Is that good for some rear quards? If the guards work well I'll try to make some door guards as well.

Thanks
Chris

here is my custom diamond plate guards...i did mine and they cover all the angles on the lower panels not just one flat piece. Im currently getting them black powdercoated and they r lookin great
