Yeah i like it but if you have seen my jeep it is not something that i really want to put flashy Alu. DP on, I would like steel black DP

spray paint or herculiner, I got mine from XJnation in aluminum and Just sprayed them black, eventually herc'd them, plus he gave a great price with great product you couldnt beat...I think he got It to me in one day too free of charge cause I needed them for a show the next day...

Can I get a link and how do you INSTALL IT??? man is that a hard ?

heres a link but I'd Just pm XJnation and then set-up paypal from there much easier....

he gave me all the #12 sheet metals screws I'd need, I think even a couple extras Incase I screwed up or stripped a few...(which I did)

I got no pictures right now but basically I trimmed them a lil because they were fit to a stock XJ and I have TJ flares so I needed to trim the front fender piece (thats It)

then I drilled holes in the aluminum where I wanted the screws ( you pick the spots )
common sense you have 20 screws a 3 pieces well you split them up equally so you have 8 screws on the biggest piece and so on...so their well spaced...

then after holes are drilled in door armor, mark holes on XJ and drill holes Note: holes should be smaller then actually screws...so they can get In the hole but the teeth on the screw will hold on...

then thats It...Its real simple took me maybe an hour to do all 6 pieces....

I think black diamond plating with black countersunk screws would look really nice. However, what are y'all doing to seal water out from under the dp? It looks to me as though it'd be easy for water to get between the dp and the body and cause some rust.

And what are the screws biting into? Just the sheet metal? I think I'd rather use rivets. But, do rivets require you to have access to both sides? Meaning, would you have to take the door panel off the inside of the door to use rivets? Or do you only need to have access from one side (i.e. the outside)?

If you herculine them from about 1" above the top of the gaurd down to your rockers you wont have any problems cause the herculiner holds up like a champ...aint that great of a pic but best I had for now....Its about 3 layers of herculiner on there thick as hell....holds up against pinstriping on tight trails as well....and my door armor is from XJnation and these things are tough...I'v leaned up on rocks more then 1 time and they hold the wheight of the vehicle and keep the rock from crushin in the door...mine are a bit edited from the original armor because of my TJ flare trimming...

Ahh, so you could just put a bead of silicon all the way around the armor? That makes sense...
Pretty much. That stuff works for more than just sealing up axles. You can also use it on your doors if they don't seal properly anymore.

Really?! I'll hafta find out more about that, 'cause both my side doors leak when it rains. There just isn't a good seal with the door jamb. How could I use the silicon? I thought it also acted to bond the two things together?

What I would do, is find out where it would leak, and add a bead of clear silicone to the door, but don't close it, otherwise it WILL stick to the rubber. Once it's dried, close the door, and it should seal much better than it did before. If it's not perfect, repeat it until you get it right.

for anyone looking to do this I still have the diagrams and measurements that I drew up when I made my side panels out of 1/4" alum. for a 2 door. I'll post pics of them when I get a chance.

Not sure how I missed this thread but I did mine. Cost me less than $60 and a few hours of work:

I know it won't stop huge smashing roks but it protects and covers a few scars as well as makes it a little different.
