still not a bad price just don't be misled you will have to set it up
$100 for use gears is not a bad price?
still not a bad price just don't be misled you will have to set it up
i know, have built 60's, 44's, 9's, toy's etc......
I think your use of the term 'built' is a tad bit optimistic. Obviously you don't understand how to properly set up gears. Coming on here and giving out bad advice is not cool. Do what you want with your gears, and remind me never to wheel with you.
...or the experiance i have on building...
what have you built?
Actually we have a pretty fair idea. I'm not a gear expert by any means, I've only set up two axles with the guidance of somebody else, but I understand that the whole point of setting up gears is to get everything right to the axle it is going in. If set up gears were fine in any Dana 30 axle then they'd just sell them as drop-in kits. You don't appear to understand minor differences in the manufacturing process and how that matters with something as precise as gear setup. You probably also bitch when you get rock rails that don't fit perfectly because the distance between an XJ's pinch seam and frame rails aren't always the same.
I don't think you want to get in a wrench turning pissing contest with Bryan.
Ooooooo my :doh:whats a pinch seam, mine doesnt have one....
sorry, but i do know that each housing may have a slight diff and i dont buy my stuff, i build it all... whats a pinch seam, mine doesnt have one.... bash all you want, but i know my shit and what i build doesnt break and does work.....
The whole point is about giving out bad advice. I don't give a crap what you do with your own junk, or how cool you think it is. I have a problem with someone coming on the board and posting up bad information as if it was the truth. Call it bashing or whatever, all we are doing is setting the record straight.
 just drop in a locker and go? I assumed it was the complete axle minus the spiders. Oh well mine will be back from the shop come Monday, now I don't feel so bad.

hey guys, rob707 just worded his original post in haste, he has been fabricating, wheeling longer than alot of guys on here and unlike some guys who talk but dont work on vehicles alot, he doesnt talk much but works on rigs all the freakin time, he sets more gears than anyone i know, and also knows a ton about fabrication. i feel that his experience is an asset and i think this thread about bad advice got blown out of proportion. he has tons of good advice to give. his rig has been very well made on a very very reasonable budget, and he wheels the piss out of it all the time, alot more than anyone i know. i would trust his advice over many guys on these threads and if you guys met him in person and talked with him you would know this. im pretty sure that dan at ruff stuff has used rob for advice as well... i would imagine that guys who set as many gears as he does understand that maybe he just meant the fact that the ring and pinion and carrier are in great shape and that with some one who knows what they are doing could drop it in.
Well you could be right, but from everything he has posted it really seems like he has a real lacking of education and knowledge. For someone to come on here and post up such bad information leads people to question if he is just ignorant, really stupid or just a troll having fun posting up bad advice. Then for him to try to defend his bad advice with such a lack of intelligence just points to a condition of being stupid.
