Gm sold Hummer to the Chinese!http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/09/gm-hummer-sale-finailized_n_315589.html
:roflmao: I never thought I'd see that line referencing China. They can only make them better.
The multi-million dollar military spending question is:
What will they replace them with? We can't have a potential enemy supplying us military vehicles.
Ron
Depending on to which you are referring, both are correct except Hummer would be capitalized. The HMMWV (High Mobility Multiple Wheeled Vehicle) is the military vehicle that was designed in the late 70's as a replacement for the GP. AM General won the contract, hence putting the HMMWV that we know into production. They came to be nicknamed Humvee (phonetic pronunciation of the acronym) and then hummer, hence the brand name. Much like how the GP came to nicknamed jeep and then the brand Jeep was formed, taking advantage of the name recognition already afforded. The Hummer is the civilian brand consisting of (formerly) the H1, the H2, and the H3.... hummers, not HMMWVs. Unless I'm mistaken.
As former military I can say the military hummers are bada$$! For me whenever I see a civ humvee
Those M-RAPs look ridiculous.
Indeed. Last I heard the only casualties had been suffered as a result of a rollover. They're pretty top heavy and people didn't know how to drive them right off-road. Hence the M-ATV.M-Raps are designed to take a blast unlike the boxy blow a hole through it HMMWV.
Ugly but practical
