The driving "privilege vs right" thing is something DMVs dreamt up to scare kids into thinking they could lose their license at the drop of a hat. This is also the reason I believe random sobriety checkpoints are unconstitutional.
No, thats a stupid thing to ask.
What I would rather happen is that I be allowed to exercise my right and proceed down the public roadway that I payed taxes to use without being detained, searched or belittled just for being on that public roadway.
In no way do I advocate drunk driving. I think there are other means of attacking drunk driving than to inhibit the rights of those people who are doing what they should be doing. For starters, as an example, theres absolutely no excuse for repeat drunk driving convictions. There should be no tolerance. The resources that are being used to stop innocent people could better be spent investigating and prosecuting. Just that change would eliminate 90% of the drunk drivers.
Thats why I am glad I live where I do. It doesn't matter if I am in my car, home, tent or motorhome. If someone comes in uninvited I can shoot him dead.
Here entering the domicile is precived as a deadly threat.
I know what you're saying, small price to pay to save someones life.
The thing is, it goes against everything I feel our government should be. Our Democratic republic should be invisable. Its becoming way to intrusive.
Its ok now to be stopped just because you are driving on a road, to see if youve been drinking. Whats next, maybe someone desides that everyone needs to be stopped to check for weapons or drugs, next someone decides its not enough to search your vehicle for drugs so they start random house searches. Next thing you know you wake some Saturday and find drug dogs sniffing through your house.

2nd offense...well guess they didn't learn the first time so shove their head in a 5gallon bucket of water until movement ceases. Problem solved. I seriously do not understand why we make it possible for people to get a 3rd and 4th offense.
