Cash for clunkers

I got 4500 for mine. :greensmok

Honestly, I hope the whole thing gets crushed. I don't want any part of that cursed POS finding it's way on to someone elses XJ.
Good perspective from the other side of the country. When I see someone from the well named "rust belt" completely replacing the floor pans and still having rotted fenders and rockers I really wonder "Why?". We have more clean cheep XJ's out here than we know what to do with.

Would I get rid of either of ours? Probably not unless I could replace the '89 with one that had properly maintained in it's youth, but it's "almost" fixed by now, so why bother. And it's paid for. My wife's round trip to work at the grocery store is under 15 miles. I work out of the house. We change oil by the calendar. New cars don't make financial sense for us and who wants to stress over door dings when the Cherokee bites back.

Now Cash for Clunkers would make sense for our daughter. They bought a new Honda Fit a year and a half ago and have 30,000 miles on it now. They save enough on gas to pay for insurance and the car payments. She just rotated the tires, I probably won't get 30,000 miles out of mine. Her air conditioning works, it doesn't overheat, it doesn't "throw codes". AND it can hold as much as our Jeeps.

Anyone want to give me $900- for a neighbors 1990 RENIX with 170,000 miles that overheats, marks its' territory and has been sitting for 6 months?
The state will pay him $1000- after it "fails" smog. That's the quandary. We don't want to see them sent to the J.Y., but supply is greater than demand even at low price.

I.M.O., Y.M.M.V., etc.,
Mike

PS You are the guy that stole money 9 months ago and never repaid it no?

yeah, I'm the guy who had a deal fall through, tried twice (though it has been pointed out that I can't prove it to you) to send his money back after the part didn't show up at his house.

try being out $200. I feel that it's a screwed up situation and personally, I'm being fairly curteous to send him his $100 back even still....and be out a further $100.

I'll go ahead and watch you skip over to him and tattle now, but I'm gonna tell you to shut your pie hole and stay on topic. my issues there have ZERO bearing over here, and you don't know the situation well enough to put it into blunt terms as you did. yes, it's a shitty situation. I've apologized for it and I'll send money back to him when I can afford to.

An Oregonian and a Wisconsinite keeping the drama alive in the SoCal forum. Yes!

*shrug* I don't even look at the forum I'm posting in....just click new posts and look at what interests me.

I might be from the rust belt, but mine was a rust free 99 with only 107k on it. I tried offering up some parts off of it, but no one bit. :dunno:

Oh, and to be honest, I didn't even realize I was in another chapters forum... I'll just get back to my own corner of the world now. :shhh:

I disagree totally. We can easily afford the new car but would not have considered it with out the additional $4750 off (4500 + 300 - 50). Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have voted for the program but am I going to ignore a potential windfall? That would be stupid.

Can I at least drive your car that my tax dollars are paying for?

If you're willing to accept this handout because its being offered, how far are you willing to continue taking from them? Would you be ok with depending on them for everything?

Actually I know it better than you think You have had multiple issues with multiple sales and always have an "excuse" why it isn't your fault. Bottom line 9 months ago some one sent you money for parts they never received. You say you sent" them but honestly that sounds like horse dung to cover your butt. Mean while 9 months later and the guy is still out his money. Come be honest and just admit you are an out and out thief.
