Build thread: Out of Misery, again...

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

Right now I'm not doing anything for covers. I've got $9k in parts sitting in the garage (locked) and I'm sorta running out of cash. The little things I can do later.

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

On the baby jeep with about 4 inches of lift I moved the shock mounts up to the axle and used the stock mounts up top. I was able to use stock length shocks.

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

Move it up to axle and use JK shocks. They are good for about a 3-4" lift so it should work nicely.

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

this weekend wasn't super productive for the silver jeep, but I did buy another dd xj that needed some work, had minor surgery on my hand, rear brakes on a friends Ranger and I got a long way on my Dana 30 IRO truss.

my 30 was like most 15 year old axles from the Midwest and I had a lot of cleaning to do...

This was after some cleaning and the removal of the right uca mount. With the truss that mount needs to go as well as the coil buckets assembly that also house the shock mounts, track bar mount, and sway bar mounts.

with a lot of help from my torch, I had all the mounts removed and started the horrible task of grinding it all flat...

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

fast forward past a lot of rust boogers, a few beers and my hands vibrating from the grinder, I had to locate where I wanted to drill and tap my hole for my air line for the Zip Locker. With the truss in the way, I had very few options of where it could go.

the inner c braces...

and the final product pre paint...

I need to get a new wire wheel for my grinder to do the final clean up and then paint.

Gear install will be on July 13th at Macgyvr's house, I'm coming down on the 12th to do some drinking at Club R. Feel free to join us.

Can't wait to see this in person.

Thought about a hemi. I don't think they would fit. The heads on them are HUGE!!!

They're honestly not much bigger than say a 4.7

I really want to throw it in something but too many projects goin on, I'm trying to downsize!

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

I'm guessing IRO. As I recall they come with the 30 truss kit. I've been thinking about picking up a set myself.

Looks like everything is really coming together on this!

Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

whos C braces are those?

my WJ/44 knuckles are going to make my 30 one wide mofo. a little extra support may be a good idea... though idk if its ready for a truss like yours.

Truss it. I bent 2 Dana 30s on 33s.

If you're gunna polish a turd. Do it the right way

Re: Build thread: Out of Misery, again....

Just ordered my winch from winchdepot.com , I went with the new Warn VR8000, which is a sister winch to the M8000, with the exception this is $200 less because it is built overseas. Still comes with all of the Warn guarantees.
