BOD: STT activity....

I know dutch. hoping maybe the interest, available funds and leg work already done, the bod will hop into some decision one way or another. if they decide against it id be happy to join you dutch.

I have put the idea to the rest of the BOD. I figured we should have an answer back from everybody within a week or two.

Anybody have any ideas for other good ideas for using the chapter funds to help out keeping trails open, or trails to adopt?

We donated $500 to COHVCO and never could even get an email back. I called and left voice mail twice and probably a half dozen emails. We would have done more if they would respond. As far as I am concerned, I guess they closed the doors.

Well you guys could fund my XJ build, then I promise to hit the trails even more and to take lots of pictures of me wheeling responsibly. :D

Maybe STT would have a way to get us in contact with the buerocratic arse-hats that are keeping the new "buggy" trail on LHC from being opened? See if there is anything we can do there.

We also have the entire Poudre Canyn area that has a lot of trails possibly adversely affected by the High Park Fire. Maybe see if we can get with STT or the FS and assist with clean-up assesment of the area?

Good luck with that. After the Hayman fire, the FS posted a map showing that the gulches, Hacket, etc., would remain open. The final decision closed them. The only reason they are open is because Teller County said those aren't your roads, they are ours, and they worked out a deal. The FS wants no roads anywhere, then they can stay at there desks.

I would highly recommend anyone interested in the Lefthand area or other Boulder-area trails to attend the monthly OHV meeting that Boulder Ranger District holds each month. Folks from the Trail Ridge Runners and other clubs are constantly represented and very involved. That is the time/place to get your foot in the door and discuss trail issues with them.

My understanding is that the rock formations on the "Ice Spyder" are unable to be used as anchor points and that has effectively shut down much of the process.

Next meeting is August 23rd at 5pm at the district office. We will be there.

I will still be at NTC for my Annual Training during that meeting. You would be doing me a huge favor if you brought up my converns about LHC and forwarded my offer to help orchestrate both repairs and improvements to Big Momma Hill.

Depending on scheduling, I'd step up and volunteer with this also. Unfortunately I can't make the meeting on the 23rd.

What a great effort from everyone to invest some time in stewardship.

Without adopting a trail, I can see several areas that come to mind that can have a positive impact.

1) Identify members that can attend meetings that affect the trails and attending such meetings. Reporting back that information to the group.

2) Perhaps regular (Quarterly/Monthly), clean up runs local to us in the name of :NAXJA:.

3) Hosting a fund raiser for STT or other organization that supports this conservatory effort.

Just a few ideas...

Just an update for a few of you, the BOD has approved a donation to STT and is awaiting them to contact us on the best way to handle this. We are also looking into several other organizations.

My thanks to Mike for helping on this.

If you contacted Justin, I know he said he was out of state when we talked on the phone. Hope everything goes smooth.

Don't shut up, come up with more good ideas and make initial contacts if you want.
