Well I swear by my Blackberry 90% of the time. The Iphone is horrible for business and I am stuck on ATT...

A few months back RIM had one of thier wrost outages, and I Almost jumped ship (actually I did to a windows based phone, man what a POS, so I returned it the same day), and swore they better do something...

Well here I sit with Another outage. I know some of you are like, so what, its only a phone. But not when you have a company that is web based, and you use a blackberry to check stock, order & recieve parts, as well as comunicate with the world (literally) on a minute by minute bases, and communicate with family all day, etc... Its more then a phone, its a part of life for me, and many others.

Why cant they keep thier servers going?

Ok so I am about done with my rant. But I have to say Daym I Hate and yet Love the RIM/Blackberry network/phone(s)....

Cant wait for ATT to get a Real android OS phone. Not some POS backflip that will be scratched and gouged and dead in a few weeks, of my typical usage...

I use my Iphone for Business and its great!

Been there, tried that. It take a certain type of patience and compromise if ur coming from a blackberry. Not for me.

I had the exact opposite experience, I went from my iphone to blackberry for my business, figured out I couldn't stand the BB, and immediately went back to the iphone. While it has it's bugs, it does everything I need it to do and then some, you just have to know what you're doing with the phone, and what to change on it.

I hate hate hate BlackBerry. Hate it. Hate it a lot. Despise it.

I've hated it since they came out with that clunky interface that was already five years behind the times (long before they came with phones attached).

I love my Crackberry... but I am with you Robert... sitting here with the outage.. .oh well!!

Well, speaking from an administrator point of view, the Blackberry is about as good as you get. For people that just need to check email, I'm sure an iPod with a telephone is fine...but for most folks, anything mac that requires an exchange server is just a friggin' nightmare. The abilities to push/pull updates from a phone, lock it from intruders remotely if lost, delete all data remotely if suspected of theft, etc. set the blackberry apart from any other device. Sure, Good messaging (formerly Goodlink) is also a pretty nice product, but the assurance and reliability of a Blackberry is far beyond any other commercial product.

Even most iPhone users I know, who have an iPhone for personal use, tend to also have a blackberry for business purposes. However, the great number of masses don't care about reliablity or functionality, they care about what's trendy....which is why so many people ran out to spend $800 on an iPad only to find it doesn't support flash player and a LARGE number of websites are now inaccessible to them. =)

My iPhone is quite reliable, much more than the old BlackBerrys have been (note widespread service outages). You can lock down iPhones these days so that's a bit of a moot point.

A lot of my BlackBerry hatred is centered on BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

The lack of push email DOES bother me, however everything else you mentioned is a mute point with a simple jailbreak. I hate apple with a passion, and I'm not a huge fan of my iphone, but it's the only phone that will do everything I need it to do and then some. Not stock by any means, but with some tweaks it works wonders.

.Mac and Exchange push, I'd love for them to get gmail push one day as well though since that's who hosts my domains.

I'm on tmoible with a moto cliq, and while I don't use it for buisness. I clould see huge advantages to this phone in a buisness world. Although, as a tech I could buy a bluetooth dongle and be able to pull codes and view via the "torque" app. Love my andriod phone. Just my opinion.

Peace

I love my Droid... I do everything on it and it has never let my down and android 2.1 is awesome can't wait for the 2.2 update with flash! Will make the android OS perfect..

I really want an iphone (simplify, and carry one device instead of a phone + ipod), but I have no desire to switch to AT&T.

I have the backflip. I had a nokia that died, but I had a bestbuy protection plan and I could only replace it with a phone that they sell in the store. The only phone that remotely would work for me (that they carried) was the backflip. I KNOW that its going to break soon. Having the touch screen is cool, but it will crack sooner or later, and I absolutely HATE that the keyboard is on the outside of the phone, not to metion that the keyboard sucks in general. I refuse to work on anything with it in my pocket. The 5 megapixel camera is pretty nice though. I have the bestbuy protection on this phone too, hopefully by the time it breaks, there will be a better phone I can replace it with. I feel like its probably gonna break within the next few months. One bad drop and its dead.

Thought of trying a netbook?

I got one of those too, as well as a laptop that without question is more powerfull and can handle more of everything then 99.9% of any laptop out there and prolly 90% of all desktops.

But I am very seldom at home or somewhere where I have either. its in the grocery store, or at the park, or working on a buddys something etc... then the blackberry does it all just fine, Typically. lol

So 12hrs of down time total yesterday. ugg..

Back up and running now at least. in that time I had 4 sales thue the site that I had no idea about since it did not send any notifications to me, well it did but I didnt get any of them.
