I took a little trip up the back way to big bear last week. The road is 2N02. We stumbled across I think 7 mines. some open, some closed. I was wondering if anyone has any history on the mines up in that area....

I took more pictures but I think they were deleted somehow...:flamemad:

shhh! i was going to turn him in for the reward!

nice view up there:)

i know holcomb valley (self guided trail) has mines that you can go it to.
i dont know if your allowed but you can go about 50ft or so ...

The one in the second picture down, we actually went into a good 200 yards or more. the flashlight and spotlight both started dying so we left. about 100 yards in they have a bunch of old logs along the walls. its pretty cool. I want to go back in there with a metal detector.......

the other ones we went in a little but they were hot and stagnant so we didnt go any further...

2N02 runs from Pioneertown to Baldwin Lake and Big Bear via Burns Canyon. It's a beautiful drive, with lots of cool side roads. Nothing really challenging, but a nice drive, just the same. Been up there many times, and always find something new....BTW, how's the scenery since the fire went through???:flame::flame::flame:
