best affordable leafs besides deavers?

There isn't any reason why you couldn't make a bastard pack perform like Deavers, just copy them. Spring steel is spring steel, it is the length of each leaf, the thickness of each leaf, and how they are stacked up. But, in reality, by the time you had them alll collected, trimmed, configured, arched, you may as well just start with deavers haha. They are the most widely used for jeepspeed, and most leaf sprung race trucks of any class, for a good reason.

Come on Bronco guys, not getting enough attention in bronco world? :):) Hahah, j/k. I am building a Ford too, just don't tell anyone. You throw enough money at anything, and it can be baddass. But I personally think you can throw very little at an XJ, and it can be badass, it is all relative.

So I have RE packs that I just flapwheeled, painted, added graphite, and installed full length liners.
Would writing Deaver on each pack make them perform better?

Try it man, maybe buy some of the special Deaver steekers, those are good for a few extra inches:).

I do know Deaver has some special equipment to temper the leafs etc, think old school hammer/anvil type stuff:).

Corugated cardboard is over-rated (so is spray paint)I prefer cereal boxes.

Got my deavers on!

Aw, man, the individual leafs aren't dog eared, nor are the inside edges chamfered for ultimate sliding:). haha, nice one, crayon would have been the preferred method though;).

How do the deavers do with weight in the cargo area?
2000 with ford D44 / 9" full widths , 35x12.50 Kevlars ... Sitting about 5".. I have HD offroad Relo boxes and clayton 2" HD shackles. Our rig is used for everything from DD, Expo rig, we drive to wheel and drive home. Type of trails we hit would be everything from midwest offroad parks to moab. So we need lots of flex at slow speeds also...i already know they will be great for the road and fast forest service roads. Cargo area has about 300lbs in it at times with tools / recovery gear, a full size spare and a 80 lb dog.... Thanks for the input Guys.
