since i"m at about 3.75 inches in the front and as of now i have a bastard pack in the rear which is basically a combination of two xj packs. I'm going to stay pretty low for a while, so i didn't want to get deavers yet. I was wondering what the best pack is out there for the go fast stuff without spending too much.

Currie and ALCAN both make jeepspeed packs with the bells and whistles - bit cheaper than Deavers.

Not sure how many that go fast use them, but OME has great ride quality.

iv'e heard of people running the re pack but supposedly their new stuff sucks. i thought about ome but it looks like its aimed for trail usage. i guess i'll just keep messing with different bastard pack setups. has anyone ever had a bastard pack that performed decently in the dirt?

I was surprised how well, my stock leafs on 2x shackles worked. I would imagine that you could make a pretty decent bastard pack with some effort.

define what "decently in the dirt" is. My pack is extremely flexy - full length liners, rebound clips instead of clamps, and graphite paint.

may want to add a traction bar or anti-warp perches if you're really hammering it in loose stuff though

No traction bar needed with good packs and shocks. And flexy doesn't automatically mean good for go-fast. I think some people get confused posting here about how fast and how rough a lot of these guys build for. 40mph over graded dirt isn't Jeepspeed.

I was just using mine as a comparative example - you know we don't have jeepspeed-esque trails around here! Rocks FTW!

OME is from Aussieland, so I'm sure that their stuff is tested decently. They do have lots of sand/dirt down there. Ha,

anyone used Rusty's special Jeepspeed packs?

Don't listen to this... A stock pack does TERRIBLE in the rough, and reading this comment just tells me you have NO idea what you're talking about, and that your input should be null and void.

We tend to try to stay away from Rusty's stuff around here. Too much breakage coming from them.

Realistically, Deavers are expensive for a reason. If you can't afford Deavers, either save up, or go with Alcans, Nationals, etc. Alcans are a bit cheaper, but don't perform quite as well. I was on Alcans before and loved them, but now I'm running Deavers.

I actually really like my Full Traction packs. They have done me well for a few years then on our KOH rig in the go fast sections were very nice.

The company personel and their related companies Really suck though. SO Even though I HATE to promote them at all, thier leaf packs are very nice. Just NEVER expect any decent customer service unless your paying for something. Its been like 5 years since I got mine.

Military wrap, English eyed, friction pads...

THIS!!!

yeah, i might just look through the classifieds like crazy and get some used deavers. then i will send them to deaver to have them tailored to my xj..

i just didn't want to go so tall yet.
