hey that's my jeep. LOL i didn't know you were on naxja dude. so did you clean your jeep yet??? i've been driving mine around like that. i'm to lazy to clean it right now, and the local car washes won't touch it. and my wife won't go anywhere with me for some reason.

on the other hand the people around town here think it's the funniest thing ever. LOL sure hope we get some good rain around here to help clean it up.

Sounds really good to me. I have cleaned it. But only to get my winch put on and to do a little more water proofing.
Man every time I look at that pic I freek at how deep that hole is.

I see a ball hitch. Perfect for attaching crap to the back of your Jeep. Absoutely not acceptable for attaching your Jeep to another to rescue your sorry, sad, dumb ass. Should have left them there for that alone.

If you remove the ball and use the pin and put the strap around the pin, that's actually a good recovery point.

But no, wrapping a strap around the ball is a bad idea.

the pics that jaymo posted of my green cherokee are with 31's. i did alright, but it definitely would have been better with 33's and better gearing.

Class 1 hitches are not acceptable tow points as their rating is less than the weight of the Jeep + the force needed to get it unstuck. OK on a Zuk, bad on a Cherokee.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Put the strap around the pin". That sounds bad...

Last time I looked at Class 1 receivers, the hole for the ball was small , so I don't believe you can use the tounge as a clevis mount point without drilling it out.
The generally accepted size clevis (3/4") has a 7/8" bolt.
Pin Clevises are not generally accepted by many clubs/ event holders.

Perhaps what you are thinking of is the practice of using a Class III hitch as a tow point by stuffing the loop end into the receiver and inserting the pin. This is generally accepted because the pin is rated in double sheer to the hitch rating. Because the strap loop is the size of the receiver, it is argued that that condition continues to exist with the strap installed instead of the tounge. However, it is a PITA to do when you need to access your hitch under water or in the mud.
