Autopals + HIDs = Trouble aiming.

The kit I bought also has a lifetime warranty against defects. As well as I don't have to shit it to Japan to get my replacement. I think it's just the housings now to be honest, the passenger side HID bulb blew a few days ago, and I've been running around with just halogen bulbs and it's doing the same thing. Can anyone recommend another H4 housing other than the autopal ? oh and it needs to be E code, not DOT.

Which Autopals did you get? Did you get the standard e-code or the crystal clear e-code? I accidentally ordered the crystal clear ones but i am gonna try them out anyways. With Halogen bulbs I never had a problem with my last set.

Replacement bulbs are on the way, and no I hadn't switched them yet. Just one day the HID wouldn't ignite, swapped ballasts and the problem persisted so that left no other option other than a bad HID bulb.

I bought the standard e-code housings, I'm not sure why but it shoots light way off the right and in an uneven manner. It's very annoying, coupled with stripped adjusters and a blown HID I feel like the shit is just falling apart. I should have new HID bulbs by the end of next week, the adjusters are stuck in NC for some reason, and I need to find a replacement housing that isn't so scattered.

I would doubt that any H4 conversion housing is gonna do much better than the autopals. I would have to agree with UrbanYan and say you would need some OEM type bulbs and the housings he has to get an improvement over the H4 housing. The HID's have to be 10x better than the halogens you replaced to do the HID's. I think the cutoff being a little fuzzy just comes with the H4 housings.

Yea, that's true. No doubt the HIDs are 1000000000000x better, now at night it's almost like I don't even have headlights which is very annoying.

these guys have a lifetime warranty! imagine that. i know a kid that has them, and he says he's satisfied.

thats a good deal on those, i know a guy that has a set in his car and he loves them, i would get the autopals with the clear lense cause those lenses with the lines in them just scatter the light and blind everyone

I think I am gonna take you guy's advice and get these since you know people who run them. The company looks to be based in Cali. I also bought the crystal lenses son accident so that kinda worked out.

Well I got the adjusters, so now that I can actually adjust things easier I'll see what I can do as far as aiming them goes.

Also in cali, he's a member here, and he doesn't whatever he can to help you out if need be.

I know he is but these are 1/3rd of the price and from looking at a Bimmer forum and seeing 11 pages of good reviews. I am gonna take my chances. Its not like i don't have 2 pairs of bulbs if these things are the suck and I'll get my money back if they suck too bad! Sorry to tcm glx but if these suck he's got my business.

Get your issue sorted out yet? I'd like to try HID at some point, but I'm not really sure what I'll do, given the variety of opinions on the Ecodes + HID. Curious if those shrouds Yan mentioned would noticeably improve things. A full blown projector retrofit is out of the question, but I would like a little better light without adding aux lights.

I'm actually pretty curious how the shrouds on those hi/lo H4 kits compare to the D1S/H4 shrouds I mentioned earlier. The main problem's inconsistency; OEM D1S bulbs are built to high standards; aftermarket kits are all over the place. I've had my fair share of problems with aftermarket HIDs. I haven't had a single issue with my OEM stuff.

Just waiting on the bulbs now. The bulbs I had already had a shroud on them. Sorry for the crappy picture.

I couldn't tell if most HID kits even came with shrouds, so that answers that question. How is the lamp secured to the shroud, or vice versa?

What would happen if I removed the shroud ? It only allows half the lens to be lit and I'm wondering that's the cause of the funky pattern.

Worse advice ever when trying to put HID in an H4 housing. The clear housings have a notoriously poor beam pattern even with a Halogen bulb.

It's your money I suppose.

Oh I have heard good things about Him no doubt(giggity!). I guess i just feel like experimenting. :dunno: Besides I am about to drop 900 or so on Armor so I will go cheap. Going through the Bimmer forums and seeing many positives on them made me want to give it a whirl. Looks like I may have an Issue with the crystal housings I ordered by accident though!
