Any electronics geeks out there?

Any electronics geeks in the chapter? I am an engineer with 45 years experience and love to tinker. Are there any others who might be interested in doing some projects or just chewing the fat?

I also come across a ton of used equipment cheap if anybody is looking for anything, let me know.

Tom, I'm not an Engineer, or very local, but I used to do a lot of home-brewing, mostly RF.
Lately most of my "projects" seem to be fixing my own broke stuff ;)

Have you thought about checking out the local "Maker" scene?
I bet you'd make a great Elmer!

I grew up in the shadow of two electronic engineering geniuses, in my view at the time, in the 1960s, my older brother and father, both long gone now. My father patented, built and marketed a computer back in 1963. I took many stabs at electronics, serviced TVs and radios in the 1960s and early 70s, but ended up as you know focusing on bio-chemical engineering.....But I have off and on tinkered with stuff, and I do repair and testing here and there on all sorts of stuff. I can repair, solder components on a circuit board, test components, I even built my own Gas chromatography GC system from a lot scrap, and Windows 3.11/486 XT set up with Excel in 2000. Cost me about $3000 to get a $25,000 rig running for my own R&D work. But I lack the EE engineering know how at the component, circuit design level. Not sure that skill is used much anymore unless you are designing IC chips and circuit boards from scratch as there is so much off the shelf plug and play digital stuff now. I too have a shop full of used, a lot of antique equipment, including a 1960s Heath kit oscilloscope my dad left behind, for starters. Not sure there is even much use for it anymore?
