All Things Guns

Well, it's legal by ATF definitions leaving it a 1-shot-per-pull mod, but it looks like it will be a bit more efficient than a SlideFire stock. I think that is what will scare the extreme Libs into wanting it banned.

I love the fact that it has a 3 position safety and that got me looking to see of I can do that with a normal safety in my AR. It sounds like there is a very distinct difference between an M16 and AR15 safety selector. The M16 selector removes the function of the disconnect in "auto" position and the BCG takes care of timing on the hammer release. Without the proper timing of the BCG on the auto sear, the M16 selector will keep the disconnect from reconnecting and cause slam fire. Enough to get in trouble with the BATFE, so to get my rifle to switch into the "auto" or "burst" position while remaining in semi requires some filing of things on an M16 selector but sounds legal as it will not function proper in an M16 after the mod.

Anyway... $500 is steep. The thing is, it's $300+ for a SlideFire stock that looks ugly and still has a slight issue with manageability. It's leaps and bounds above typical bump firing, but this trigger will take out any instability you may encounter. Sounds like cyclic rate is 650rpm which varies depending on the shooter's pull on the trigger. I want one. I don't know if I'll ever get one. I'd prefer to get one at a gun show so when it becomes illegal I don't have to worry about the alphabet agencies knocking down my door. I'll just get rid of it on my own. The price should be lower too. I'd say $300 would be good.

Taking a friends son to the range today, he is 13 and never shot before. When I told him a few months ago if he wanted to go his mom said it was okay, it was great to see someone interested in shooting. Going to have a a 22/22mag revolver, 357 revolver, 9mm semi auto, two 22 rifles, an AR 15, a 410 shotgun and a 12 gauge. The Ar 15 is a friends who is coming with us who is also a firearms instructor.

Started out with the AR 15.

His target

I am thinking it was 150 yards. I was hitting a piece of metal 200 yards away and hit it 27/30 times.

He liked the 357 Magnum

And the 9

He is interested in rimfire madness, so next year I will be taking him to that. I also think he is free since he is under 18. Now to find 22lr.....

Well have ordered a few goodies for the AR. I've already received the YHM Phantom flash hider. Still waiting on the my BCM mod 4 charging handle, Ambi sling buffer plate, and free float end cap.

By the way BCM has blem mod3 and mod4 charging handles in stock for $25.95. They are marked "training use only" but there are several people using them with no issues. Hard to beat the price. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR15-Charging-Handle-s/35.htm

Picked up an used upper yesterday, now to crank up the CNC to build a lower, I'm thinking something wildcat, I have a .30-14tw barrel I can use. Hmmmmmmm????????????????? Maybe a .30 SPC and set it up for .30-125gr Speer TNT's

My dad has a rifle in .300x.221 and one in .17x.221. The 6.8spc I shot a few weeks back is gonna be my next one. That thing was sweet!!

I am finally moving forward with my ar-lower I have been sitting on. Picked up a sb15 stabilizer and am planning to run a 11.5" barrel. I'm debating if I want to have the hbar barrel I have laying around cut down, threaded and the gas hole opened for around $55 or order a new barrel. If I have one cut down I will have more $ for cool stuff...
Then I can coyote hunt in style and not have to rack the bold when getting out of the jeep.

Are you going to run that as a pistol or an SBR?

Time to dispose of some pumpkins.

Upper has arrived and a 80% lower is on the way. I figure I will have less into it finishing it since running the mill for hobbies takes away from shifter building.

Screw shopping on Black Friday, I'm gonna go fire my AR for the first time instead. :D

Got shot gun slug certified at work last week.

Got a side saddle on it.

Got a sling for it.

mac 'might use if for more than a hat rack' gyvr

You still haven't shot that yet?! Just give it to me.
I know! It's taken him way too long to crack even the first shots.

Got the big magazine on those things? That's the only reason I've ever wanted a Remington shotgun. There's nothing wrong with them, but I've always used Mossbergs and love the price point. Just can't put an extended magazine on them at any good cost.

Tried my hand at polishing the barrel on my Sigma.

I got pretty close to where I want it, but for a good mirror finish, I'm going to have to get more sandpaper. Kinda wore it all out. The barrel itself isn't as shiny as the chamber. I'll get to it sooner or later. For now, I'm happy with the cheap/free mods I've done to this thing. It just keeps getting better.

a good mirror finish, more sandpaper.

Those two things don't go together. If you want a polished finish, you have to polish it. Get yourself the craftsman polish kit at Sears that goes on the end of your drill. It comes with 3 wheels and 3 different compounds. That little area won't take you long and you'll be in it for 25 bucks.
