AFTER the engine was flooded

He's getting 20 mpg, all city, and he seems to like the performance. The tube's just 2.5" exhaust tubing.
I doubt the stock airbox would have done all this with a drop-in K&N, but this was somewhat luck too.

I'm gonna see if Shucks'll check his computer tomorrow.

So, it's the TPS. Thank you.

Do these sensors get tripped?
Our AutoZone is still in construction, can I get my computer checked anywhere else for free?
Can a replacement sensor be pulled from a junkyard if this one's bad? Off of what years?

Thank you all for all the help.
the TPS is very sensitive to water. Dunk it and it's usually toast.

Brought it by Shucks and they were gonna read the code for free, but for some reason the machine wouldn't work on his motor. They told him he might need to use a nicer one to read it (?).

$75 to read it at the shop.

His transmission is squelling at higher RPMs. He ddropped in a new filter and changed all his fluids. Any ideas?

how many times did he change the fluid in the pan? Draining the pan gets 4 of about 12 quarts. Gonna have to change it 4 or 5 times.

I don't quite understand. I wasn't around when he did it, but I believe he drained the whole thing.

Just dropping the pan doesn't get it all out. The rest is inside the Torque converter....which is why you'll have to change it a few times

exactly, drain the pan, fill with 4 quarts, drive for a mile or so, drain the pan repeat 4 or 5x.

Daimler has been having BIG problems with water intrusion into the trannies lately. If the water got into the torque convertor it would make some funky noises and shudder like crazy in lock-up. Might even stick it in lock-up which would cause the stalling coming to a stop. Only way to fix that is a new torque convertor, and flush the tranny, cooler, and lines with gallon upon gallon of fluid.
Recall E13 <-- That's the link to the basic flushing procedure.

probably not, you'd still have contaminated fluid in the valve bodies and all the passages. and the cooling lines and radiator.
Either have it flushed at a shop, or do the fluid in the pan a few more times.

If you are dropping the fluid from the pan a few more times don't forget to replace the filter again. Spend a little money now or a few hundred down the road from a bad tranny.

Read through the Recall PDF. There is a procedure to drain the fluid and refill by disconnecting the cooler lines. Looks like for those not pulling the converter, the factory recommends flushing the tranny with 5 Qts of fluid, 7 times = 35 Qts. X 2.35 for ATF + 4 = $82.25 plus a filter change kit which runs about $22.00. Don't forget the brake parts cleaner to flush the Throttle body.

So for just about $120.00, you can do this yourself.......or take it to the dealer and my guess is that it will cost you between $400 and $500 to run through the same process.........
