I'm new to the Jeep game and recently bought an 87XJ already lifted and set up. I have some questions and looking for some adivce on how to fix issues I'm already having. Anyone can reply, but I'm looking for someone in my area that is willing to meet up and actually look at the Jeep and give me some direction and teach me some things. I had I friend who knows alot about XJs look at it before I bought it and and help since fix some things. His active duty Navy like myself and is now deployed, so he isn't around to help me right now. I am willing to take advice and suggestions from anyone.

Well I would not take advice from just anyone but this is a great place to look for good advice. You are pretty far out there for most of us to just stop by. Do you travel North often?

Also have you tried posting your issues in the stock and modified sections? As with most issues someone has most likely been there before so remember to search first, there is a lot of great info already on the site.

Post links to your threads in the other sections here if you want more attention from people in our chapter, some don't spend much time in different areas of the site.

Good luck and congrats on the XJ!

post up what your issues are buddy, we cant help without knowing what is goin on!
here is a quick list of common problems with the XJ as i see it:

Quick Cheap fixes aren’t always good and good fixes aren’t always quick and cheap:

common Xj problems

Death wobble:
· check all tie rod ends(tres) for play
· check upper/lower control arm bushings
· balance tires
· tighten frame side trackbar mount
· inspect trackbar bushings/tres/jonny joints/heims for wear/excessive play
· tighten trackbat bolts frame and axle side
· check toe in
· check steering knuckle ball joints
· unit bearings
· steering stabilizer is a band aid fix
· front axle shaft u joints

Driveline vibes:

· check all of the above as well
· check both DS pinion u joints
· pull front DS and drive it
· balance tires
stock t case
· make sure rear output shaft u joint and pinion u joint are the same angle
sye tcase
· make sure the rear pinion angle(use a socket on the u joint with a angle finder) is 1-2* below the DS angle

Overheating:

if your sure its not a cracked head:
· flush the cooling system
if not replaced yet, replace all the following in one fell swoop:
· radiator (can get em new for 100$)
· water pump
· upper lower radiator hoses(put a spring in the return to prevent collapse)
· thermostat
· bars leaks pellets

Throttle seems to surge up on the road for no reason, no power, high rpm surge that remains upon start up:
· check all major grounds
· test tps
· replace if out of spec

Doesn’t like to start or dies on the road sometimes while driving, intermittent no start
· test crankshaft position sensor , youll probably replace it
· check all major grounds
