A how to wheel meet

So, I was very happy to attend winterfest for the first time. It was even my first time wheeling ever too.

So, I know that this discussion came up in the winterfest thread, but I would love to see it happen.

Maybe its possible to put a meet together to teach people(like me) the basics of wheeling. Such things as gears to use(im manual), how to recover people, how to use a winch properly, how to strap to trees, how to do basic trail fixes, how to do the hole clear thing when over a hill, and I am sure that I missing things.

I am just tossing this idea out there, but I would love to do this.

Maybe even offer an advanced course too.

This is a great idea and I would like to see it come together. After we get through the rest of our Winterfest dealings etc, I would be in favor of seeing something like this come together. Date and location to be determined at a later time.

The local Sports car club puts on a yearly "How to autocross" Course. It is an evening of class room instruction.

Something like that would be the bee's knees.

I think this is a great idea. I'm a noob and I will take all the advice and information I can get.

I wont mind to go there to lend some hand but am willing to learn more stuff.

My XJ wont see trail anytime soon so its possible no XJ so I'll just a strapper bitch

I feel i can help out some noobs since I am getting decent at driving on the trail. This may not be a good time for me to do it though. I am unemployed so i gotta save those unemployment checks and hope i get my job back soon.

im game for something like this. Ill help with whatever you guys need. Ill also keep my eyes peeled for a good spot to do this. I can show basic trail fixes....for those of you who may know me, I only use a few tools...:flame: but thing usually turn out in good working order.

i'd be more than willing to help w this. i'd bring my dd that has a bb, open f&r and wheel it. i enjoy seeing the faces of people when they realize that their jeep, and themselves, can do it.

fore 'i was new once too' wheeler

I like this idea too! I just went with the flow this time and prayed I did everything right. I was going to ask for someone to ride with me but I am way to shy to ask. I hope no one thought I was being snobby or anything I am just extremely shy.

I thought you did great! Well, at least I knew you got over the obstacle because you always radioed back to me that you were clear...

im up here for another month so if it happens soon enough im game. im experienced but only in the sense of driving down the road and saying "hey lets see whats down there, somebody pass me a beer" and always end of hung up....

I have been out a few times but really taught myself what to do. i don't even know if what im doing is the smartest way to do it. so in others words i would be very willing to learn new things.

Like when you told us to stop laughing at your XJ sticker on your fuel door :D we didn't think you were being snobby
it looked like you handled the trails very well

i had no idea what i was doing when i first met up with a NAXJA group but one guy just kept saying "just drive up that rock" "just drive up that hill" and thats kinda my mind set

in our group a couple people would have been fine it they just stuck the skinny pedal down :D

They'd have been fine if you didn't hammer it through a mudhole and toast their alternators. I was that guy at WF09!
