ive been working on the MJ for a few hours now, and this is what Ive gotten done so far....its 1/4'' plate, and the i plated as much of the frame rail as i could with what i have, and to be honest, I think its a bit over kill, but considering this truck will see a big block eventually, it does serve a purpose.

no way dude. no lowering of jeeps going on in my shop. thats like a curse word. lol. but i do have a bit of a clearance issue, and I plan to relocate that down a bit. I havnent installed my front lift coils yet either.

looks like decent welds, but i don't think you've got quite enough penetration yet

you plannin on comin up my way tomorrow? I could meet you @ 7 mile and I94 unless you want to see what all I have layin around

lookin good!

got started on my interior this week, not a whole lot done, but what I did do was a bit time consuming. All of the parts in the pictures were at one time either tan carpet, or tan plastic...and the headliner was a just the backing peice.
First, I cleaned the tan plastics really good with a degreaser, then I scuffed them up good with a scuff pad. I hit them with Naptha afterwords to clean the scuff-dust off, and to open the pores in the plastic up a little bit. Then I gave 'em two good coats of rattle-can for plastics.
The headliner has a couple little cracks, and a few layers of glue on it. So, I cleaned it up real good, scuffed it up as well, repaired a the few imperfections in it, and glued my new headliner to it. The material I got at a local fabric store, and it was on clearance. The color is much darker than it looks in the photos, but it had the 3/16 foam backing attached and everything. It was easy to work with, and frankly, a nutless monkey could have done it.
The peice that covers the back part of the cab was originally tan carpet, and it has seen better days. I removed it and headlined that as well. It turned out real nice.

sorry for the un-interesting addition to my build thread, but I see it to be an important step. Keep in mind this is modified restoration, not a weekend warrior trail rig. I know headliner on that backing plate would be a terrible idea if I planned on storing anything back there, considing at the trail mud get everywhere it would end up on that headlined peice as well. anyway, let me know what you think.

looking good man. The pics are what keep me coming back to see the progress.

those are gonna look good with those door panels...

yeah its all coming together well. thanks guys. once i get my custom console and dash built, ill order carpet and stick my seats in it. should be good.

Looks good, the back panel in my junk was carpeted from the factory.

If the rattle can doesn't hold up on the plastics find some vinyl dye at the local body shop supply place. It actually soaks in and re dyes the plastic. I've used it with success, and it doesn't scratch off.
