accident at Rubicon 6-24-05
Hi I'm Pete's sister and want to let you know he is doing really good. He is still in the ICU at Sutter Roseville (916)781-1521 room #5. When he gets out of ICU they are going to transfer him to Kaiser on Morse Ave.
He only lost one kidney and not his spleen. I got to see him in the ER before they wheeled him upstairs to the OR. I guess the social worker there was called in because he is a single dad of 3 girls and they didn't expect him to survive and they needed to know who would take care of his girls. My husband and I have them and they are doing well despite the circumstances.
Ok some of you said some stuff that was hurtful but I understand that out of frustration you just typed what was at the top of your minds and hearts. Pete was irresponsible for not wearing his seatbelt and since I wasn't there I don't know if he was drinking and if so how much. He already told me twice that his life is going to change and I truly believe it. He knows now how important seatbelts are and it's to bad it took this tragedy to realize it.
Now what was said about his 2 friends who didn't rush to the hospital after the accident. Well the surgeon who operated on my brother Dr. McNabb said it was them who saved his life. If they didn't get that jeep off of him he would of been dead right there. Imagine the panic and adrenaline that set in to save someone from death. If you put yourself in their shoes you would be shaken up too. It was best for them to stay at camp and settle down. Like the nurses and doctor said there was nothing they could do for him from that point. I wouldn't have wanted his friends to get into an accident on the way down the hill! They came to the hospital to see him when he was coherent and they care very much about Pete. His friends have been there everyday since to see him. He has a great support system going on here and everyone has been so helpful.
Thank you to all who helped out to save my only sibling's life up at the Rubicon. Because I don't know all the details I want to say thank you to RePete and Postal Tom and the guy with the ham radio and thank you to Brad Sidwell and Mark Stevens who life flighted him out of there. Every single one of you are awesome humans who I will forever be thankful too. Everything that happened was crucial to his survival and he couldn't have been in better hands.
Thank you from my whole heart!
Peace & Love,
Gina Paul
