5th Annual Reno Run (Official Event thread)

honestly I'd love to do prison hill with you guys Friday and I will be there if I can get off work in time

but as soon as I'm done running the trail I'll be headed straight to moonrocks :D

OK sounds good. then you can just follow me up as long as we are all leaving around the same time. prison hill is fun, just watch the speed limit dude!

Did you ever get all your steering fixed ?

Whoever joins up from south bay let's just meet at Jon's? I'm leaving around 8-9 am

so the rig will be ready?

Stoked. We can all meet at my spot in downtown sacramento.

I think none of our spedos work properly hahaha

I just add 5mph above 30 lol

I'm gonna make it happen. Just have to swap some axles.. not sure if I'm getting the chromo in time.. but idc I'm gonna sell them and run stocks Again...

Might be just me.. maybe my brother coming. Not sure if Mariah managed to get the days off.

I'm down for leaving 2 on fri. I already asked for the day off so I might go in for a half day or work on finish packing during the day.

As of now my plan is to leave fri at around 3pm from SF, I'll be up there for a work thing so I might be able to cut out early

It'll be tight with timing since I'm moving the same week, but I'm still in! Still need to make repairs the the potato after this last rubicon trip.

Found wilbur has a frame crack on the bottom below the steering box at the very least. I need to pull the box to inspect the frame behind the box to see the full extent. Outside of the frame in that area is already plated by the welded in bumper mount. Not sure whats been done behind the box as far as reinforcement. Suggestions?

Grab some .120 wall and plate the inside rail and the under side. Plate outside with 1/4" .Drill a Ton of plug weld holes in all the plating . Cross brace it from the trackbar mount to the other side of the frame. Call it good

Trail Ride and Event Schedule

5/22 (Fri) Prison Hill We will depart campground between 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Prison Hill is a recreation area in Carson City. It is 18 miles from camp. Part of this run will be after dark.

5/23 (Sat) Group is split depending on rig / driver experience.

(Easy Run) Peavine Mountain This is an easy, scenic trail ride to the top of Peavine Peak which is the mountain northwest of Reno. We will be following the train tracks to the back of the mountain before our ascent to the top of the peak at 8,269 feet (Reno is 4,400 ft). There will be some steep hills and at least one wet (ie:muddy) spring crossing. This is a stocker friendly run. Group will depart campground at 9:00am.

(Hard Run) Billy Bobs / Twister / ??? The exact trail has not yet been determined but it will be in the Spanish Springs area. Rig requirements may change per Alan (Alboy97xj) depending on the trail but right now I'll say 33's and lockers but preferably 35's. Expect difficult rock crawling and body damage and/or drivetrain breakage is possible. Departure time and meeting location TBA.

Post run BBQ: At the campground following the day's run. Cost is $5 per person.

5/24 (Sun) Bronco Canyon Estimated departure time from camp is 9:00am. This year we will be heading in via a different (and quicker) way and may make a stop in historic Virginia City before turning onto dirt. This trail is appropriate for XJ's with a minimum of 31" tires and fun for guys on 40's as well. There are bypasses to most of the harder obstacles and you can select your line depending on how much of a challenge you want. Difficult rock crawling. The canyon is far from pavement and breakage is common. Make sure you have appropriate spare parts and your rig is trail ready (no known reliability issues).

5/25 (Mon) Event concludes. Must check out of campsite by noon.

Trail schedule and departure times are subject to change.
We will use CB channel 5 for this event.

For the "hard trail" saturday id say it will depend on how many rigs wanna do a harder trail. Could do buster which is the hardest trail id choose or twister which is the easier of the hard stuff
