3/4 or 7/8 heim steering

So, is 1.25 .120 wall DOM strong enough. Its going to be above the top of the diff cover out of the way so I doubt i'll hit it on anything.

I'm usually way overkill but I don't particularly want to bore out the ID of the 1.25 x .250 wall DOM. Either way it's going to be .120" thick (1" bore) where the tube insert goes.

so get the best of both worlds, and get 1.5x.250"

why not use 1.25 .281 wall then you can just tap it for the heim and call it done, forget the insert?

thats at least what i've done on all the setups i've built

I like that except the inserts come with the Heims... A left hand 3/4 tap ain't cheap.

I guess I could go with 1.5"x.250 like the OP is doing... I just feel like 1.5 is WAY overkill for what I do and seems like it would get in the way. I guess I just need to see a picture of 1.5" dom links on a full bodied rig...

i felt the same way when i looked at my 1 1/2" tubing next to the 3/4" heim. but after seeing some pics of the same set up, it looked good. do a search and you will find plenty of pics of heim steering with 1 1/2" tubing. is it overkill for what you do? probably. i know it is for what i will be doing with the jeep. but i dont mind doing way overkill on the steering. alot of other stuff can break and you can limp it back to camp, but not if you cant steer it.
