2013 Giveaway XJ Poll

What kind of vehicle would you prefer for the 2013 Giveaway in Moab

Who and where is the rig going ot be built?

Thinking COMPLETELY out of the box here...my idea was to try to get it built by the guys on Spike's Powerblock as a feature truck for a series of episodes and then have them join us in Moab to wheel it and present it to the winner and dedicate an episode to the event and give away. Not only will the new owner get a cool XJ, but they will have a series of DVDs showing the build process. As well as a nationwide audience being introduced to NAXJA! Perhaps some NAXJA members can be part of the build on various episodes.

Spike Powerblock tapes here in Franklin TN about 15 miles south of Nashville.

That was my idea and I'd start looking for them now. They built less than 6000 of them...about 2,500 in black and about 2,700 of them in silver.

I just like the idea of giving away a last model year.

Yeah, I don't think it needs to be one of them. It would just be kind of a cool added bonus.

LOL...I've seen that show enough to know that Ian's idea of an Expedition style rig would have a full exo cage, rockwells and 52 inch tires.

I think he is thinking of "trucks" not "xtreme4x4"

Yeah...I was thinking of "Trucks."

They did the Cheep Cherokee project about 3 years ago. They did a nice job on it with a stroker, front locker, 8.8 with LSD, long arms, custom bumpers, about a 3 inch lift with shackles and spacers, 33" tires.

Nice rig...it was just listed for sale on Ebay a couple weeks back.

It was nice except for the rustys parts.....

I voted Expedition XJ - gotta have the extra seats for the buddies, or the kiddos, or for sleeping in the back with the rear seat folded or removed.

My idea for a "perfect" ExPo XJ would be to include gears and air lockers, bumpers and winch on the front, jerry and spare carrier on rear.
255/85R16 tires with 4.56 gears, or 31" tires with 4.10's. (Decent balance between low end grunt and fuel economy on the highway.)
And of course a Roof Top Tent.
A nice 12V fridge/freezer on a slide in the cargo area.
And continuing with the "ExPo" theme, some sort of tablet navigation, a CB radio, throw in a spot device as well.
Full skids on the belly would be great.
And the most elusive part - a very large fuel tank that doesn't take away from a decent departure angle.

That would be my "ideal" expedition equipped XJ.
EDIT: To me, a true "expedition" vehicle can do a little bit of everything really well, a lot of compromising maybe, but also much more versatile than a rig built specifically for one purpose.

I've got my XJ about 80% there, went with the big ticket items first, gears, lockers, lift and tires, now I just need bumpers, the RTT and fridge and I'll be golden. lol

In the past you did not need to be present to win in Moab when the ticket is drawn. That said, you will be responsible for getting it home if you do win.

We haven't talked about the logistics of must be or not be present to win, but I don't expect that to change, we'll sell more tickets if we don't require you to be there to win.

We also haven't decided who/where it will be built, we are just in the initial stages of the project.

Expedition style totally, XJ or MJ. Front and rear winches would be cool, and with enough electrical capacity to run a small welder, maybe an air compressor and an air tank for lockers and pneumatic tools, and a built in tool box and compartmentalized storage. Then a hi-line style thing with as big of tires as you can fit using as little lift as possible. And a higher capacity gas tank would be cool too. Basically everything I want to do on my jeep.

How do you get tickets for this and when are they available? and I hope you guys keep it so you don't have to be there to win because due to this wonderful economy I'm sure alot of us can't afford to drive to Moab.

I chose expedition style XJ. Reason being: Many members have children and wives that like to come along wheeling. As badass as an MJ would be, Its just not very feasible for a family. Now, if it happens to win this poll then so be it! :D I would start with a bone stock 99 personally.

I'm hell bent. Its only 1500 miles, i'll be there in 2013!

id like to see an expo style xj or mj really. seems more interesting to build a rig you can comfortably live out of for 2 weeks on a trail, or months on end traveling thousands of miles.

build something less like every other rig on naxja or the road. build something that stands out to the point that when people see it they just dont think its a cool jeep, they know its the naxja built givaway jeep....
for those reasons id say MJ cuz everyone wants em but few can get em. the jeepspeed look is super cool and a new and growing area of naxja. the "race" type thing between jeepspeed and goatman on the buggy stuff is the best way naxja is getting recognized. the jeepspeed idea being the only option of the two thats possibly street legal....

but thats just my idea

You will be able to buy the tickets through the site for a donation. You will know when they are available.

You will also be able to buy them at events if an event comes near you.
