I have a 1991 Cherokee with the 4.0 and the auto trans I've had a issue for months where she wouldn't go past 2k rpms and if you tried to push her past it she would misfire and pop like crazy and the fuel pump would whine as it did it so I replaced my ckp sensor the iac valve and the tps and then fuel filter as well as the fuel pump new pump didn't whine at all however the limit to 2k rpm still remains in fact that pump died today after being on the vehicle for a few days and not driving very far leaving me to go get the old pump and somehow it work and isn't whining yet I'm kinda lost as to what's causing this limitation it drove good the day I bought it I had her up to 4 rpm at full throttle even had her doing 75 on the interstate but she hasn't been able to go past 2k rpm since and I've pretty much replaced every usual suspect atp only two sensors remain
