Yet another... Build thread for an xj on 40s and one tons in norcal

OK ill tear it apart tonight and see whats going on. I am thinking of leaving the case in and just pulling the back half off. its been a very long time since I have pulled a 231 apart so we will see if thats any easier than removing the entire case.

Pulling the back off is how I get in there screw dropping the tcase lol I'll be doing the same thing here soon to install my sye

ok good. I know sometimes when I try to half a$$ things it takes longer than if i just did it right. but in this case, it seems like it will work out fine to pull it apart on the rig and look for stuff.

atlas order went in today

Yea I did my first ever sye swap in my 95 in like 45 Mins leaving tcase installed everyone told me to drop it and after closely looking at it with a lifted jeep it wasn't any easier

And you lucky sob haha

I have a rear drive shaft that may work with the atlas. It was to long for my set up

I might take this off your hands. my rear DS seems like it was already lengthened but I don't know if it can handle another 3-4".

my 231 is like 17" the atlas is like 14". 3" difference.

I can get the fronts shortened for around 60$ so ill probably have west sac driveline do that.

as for the rear, its only like 100$ to have it lengthened and balanced so i might just try that. I will check yours out though.

Even with the new spring I can still shift from 2wd to 4lo in any gear and 4lo doesn't seem to be holding enough . I went into the mj and its a lot different . Just want to get this ready for SF. I'll pop the tcase apart tomorrow and hit PNP if I need internals . I have no idea where to get internal parts on short notice

For any parts needed for your caase just go back to that t-case at pick n pull where I got the spring.. the case is just laying under the rig with just the rear drive line attached.. Would be supper easy to just pop it open and get anything you need.

Also, if anyone is wondering, I use Daves off road for almost all of my offered purchases now- the tires, the atlas, the yukon hubs , kingpins, reid bronze KP bushings, etc . He is a NAXJA vendor and a Pirate vendor and a great guy with great pricing. He is working hard to get that atlas to me in two weeks instead of the usually 4-10 week lead time. it might not get here before SF but even then, that is insanely fast...
