After getting the $400 4.0 installed and headed to the trail last weekend I find the transfer case not shifting out of 4H. Do you know anyone who would pull and refurbish the tfr case? Dutch v Dub is busy and I won't have a place to work on it for 4 more months. I can and will be another hand helping if needed.

I coudln't get mine to shift out of 4hi. Or even make it go into 4 lo from 4 hi. Turns out the little plastic snap on bushing. Without the shift lever goes into a larger hole and doesn't have full range of motion. Infact my little plastic bushing was still on the shaft and just snapped right back in.

I am able to move the xfr case position tab freely by hand.

We did put Boostwork's shift kit on. The linkage didn't line up at first. Contacted Bryson who said a tab was needed to extend the shifter flat rod to line up the linkage. This tab is needed for the AX15 5 speed equipped xj. The AW4 equipped xj doesn't need the tab as the shifter layout is different. Still need help....

How'd I get dragged into this?????

:D

I got nothin' for ya Mike. You're too far north and the folks that used to turn wrenches on the side have long dried up on this end. I just have shop recommendations but you can find similar shops up your way.

Mike, do you have any pictures of how it's setup now? I'd make sure both the TC and shifter are in 2 low before installing the linkage as well. Then you can simply fine tune the linkage for the correct throw and geometry to get into 4 low.

There are several ways in which the extension bracket can get bolted on as well. I'm still working on instructions for this as well, so this is the best I can do at the moment:

1.75" extension:

1" Extension:

3/4" Extension:

I may be able to help ya out at my place if needed though!

It feels like something is not right inside the case as I can move the shifter tab freely with the fingers on my hand. It's be ages(6-8yrs), since I was last into the case, replacing the chain. I was hoping Dutch would work on this, but he is busy. I've got a shop in Longmont lined up to work on it next week. I don't think there will be any more problems. Thanks to everyone...

Did you mean 2 hi?

If I ever actually wheel again, I'd like to do this mod.
