WTB: Utility Trailer Axle

I have a 9" Ford or something equally stupid under my small utility trailer, and I'd like that to change. Anyone have anything lying around they want to get rid of? Or maybe know of someone parting out an old box trailer?

That wouldn't solve any problems, though. I already have a vehicle axle under it.

If you plan on using it with the Xj, try to get brakes on it.

Yeah, I'm completely redoing it this summer, stem to stern. Figured I may as well do the axle while I'm at it.

I have a Hays 3500 lb axle, 93 inch hub face. No spindles or brake hardwars but has brackets for brakes. Surface rust on bearing surface. $75

I hit the local pick and pull and retrieved a complete tag drop axle from a dodge van. There are only six bolts on each side of the leaf springs and the whole thing comes off leaf springs and all. I upgraded from a 55 chevy rear on my utility trailer got brakes and all. Ford aerostar FWD would also work if you want a different wheel bolt pattern. Trailer pulls much easier although I haven't hooked up the brakes yet; have to buy the surge hitch to drive the brakes.

I definitely don't need brakes on this little guy, but spindles/wheel mounting stuff would be nice.

what bolt pattern/brake size/width are you looking for, i have a decent source for used trailer axles, will probably need new backing plates though....

No brakes necessary, this is a 4x6 utility trailer. As far as bolt patter, I can make it work with just about whatever .

you want torsion axles? more than likely your trailer has leafs, any idea on the width?

Yea, they are leaf. I measured the other day, can't remember now. I'll get the width later. Trailer itself is like four feet across, so I believe it was 56 or 57 inches from wms to wms. Somewhere in that range.
