This post is actually for my dad out in Yucca Valley. He grenaded his case yesterday. Oops.

I got one. Has around 800 thousand miles on it, and has a few small cracks that I JB welded up. It works good though, makes some loud "Bangs" when you drive and shift, but none the less its a good runner. I'll let you steal it at $400.

if he doesnt take it, put it up on craigslist. thats a killer deal and i think you could get twice that much.

I've got one w/ a SYE from my '01...just needs a rear seal and a new vent tube. My mom lives in yucca, so I could get it there pretty easy.

What are you looking for cost wise? He does ultimately need an SYE.

You mention it needing a rear seal, do you mean the output shaft seal?

As for the pertinent questions... What kind of SYE, approximate mileage, and have you looked at the insides, particularly the shift pads?

yeah, rear output seal...leak was never bad enough to fix while on the jeep, but while it's out, you might as well do it (I think i have the napa part # if you need it). PORC SYE installed around 90k, t-case taken out around 110k. don't remember the condition of the insides, but it's always worked flawlessly. hth...
