Winter Wheeling Planning Thread

I think maybe we should begin to nail a couple dates down for this winter to do some snow runs. I looked through some older threads and couldnt find any planned runs besides the obvious Hollister comming up.

I myself should be ready to rock and roll at the end of november/beginning of december. I know ChuckD will be getting home this week or so. I think it may be fun to hit a early december run or do a new years run.

I really think a new years run would be a blast. Go up to either Shaver Lake area or Bass Lake area and watch fireworks.

Got any ideas or dates to talk about?

I'm probably going to be looking at a day run, Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.

I think a New Years Eve run would be kickass! Snow camp on the trail?

I know I am going to not have cash for gas that soon after JV.

I think we should deffinatly snow camp! Go up and hopefully be able to see fireworks. I know for sure some wont be down for camping in the snow, but I am!

Should we do a OFFICIAL WINTER Sierra Chapter RUN?

if im home and the 91 is running - id be interested...

Is anyone planning on running the Winter Fun Fest in Grass Valley in January? It costs $ to run it, but it's fun. I ran WFF about 6 years ago in my YJ and had alot of fun. With all the trails that are out there for free, it's kind of hard shelling out $ paying to run a trail.
It really got expensive, registration is $70/person + $45 to become a Cal4WD member. Here's the link anyways:

I'm down for running Bowman Lake/Malokoff Diggins this winter if anyone is interested (trail starts in Nevada City off of hwy 49). Lots of snow and very scenic.

I believe the Sierra chapter has been directly involved with Winter Fest for a number of years now, I've read the threads and looked at the pics. Where have you been?

I haven't been that active in the past, but plan to be in the future. Also with all the trails that we have available for free, it's hard to pay the $ to do a run. I had fun on at this event when I just got into wheeling with my YJ years ago. I have a huge 250 Norcal trail book and will post up some different trails that maybe people haven't heard about before to keep things interesting. I know that most people here like the rock crawling trails like the Rubicon and Fordyce and feel that the Winter is a off season, but there is still lots of trails that we can do as a day trip, or even overnight if we plan good enough and have the right supplies.
