Cow mountain is failry easy form what I hear but isn't it covered in asbestose (SP?) so it is probably a good time of year to go so the dust isn't kicked up.

I'm not sure if Cow Mountain has asbestose or not, but I hear that other trails in Cali do. I remember reading it on the Cal4wheel.com event information. I think it was like Calico or something? What dates can we nail down people? Let's have something to look forward wheeling wise this winter. Does anyone want to meet at Prairie City for a meet and greet/wheel?

Asbestos is the last thing I would worry about when choosing a trail.

It's not fun breathing that stuff in. I know this time of year it is less likely to get airbourne. Does anyone know if the Rubicon or Fordyce have asbestos on them? I know we all breathe in alot of dust on those trails. I might start wearing a dust mask next run. I get that stuff in my lungs and feel sick the next day coughing up the crap. :laugh3:

Seriously Chuck. I though there was something to the dust. It makes me a little sick for the next day. Are any of you guys thinking of where a mask/respirator?

Try a little research before posting bad info on one place or another, it is not Cow Mountain with the asbestos it is the Clear Creek Management Area.
"Asbestos in Clear Creek

However, one rare mineral presents a health danger to people who use this area. Old asbestos mines are found on the east side of the district, and there are several outcroppings of the white fibrous material along the trails in the area. The dust from these outcroppings could contain dangerous amounts of asbestos, which is a cancer-causing material. The hazard is most severe during the dry periods of late summer and fall.

Use caution and stay away from the mines, and avoid disturbing the soil of the outcroppings, which are white and devoid of vegetation. If you get into asbestos-bearing soil there are several precautions you should take. Keep your vehicle windows up and if you have air conditioning, put it on recirculate. If traveling in a group, stay out of the dust cloud of the vehicle ahead ouf you. You could also wear a HEPA type dust mask. Remember that the fine dust will be all over your vehicle, so wash your vehicle in a commercial car wash (not at home to avoid contaminating your residence) after leaving the area. While these steps may or may not eliminate your asbestos exposure, they will reduce it. "

But I think ChuckD is right it is on all the trails in CA, AZ, CO and everywhaere, so sell your jeep and stop posting! :laugh3:

I will not be that easy to get rid of, sorry. Even if I did sell my xj and I've thought about now that I have the CJ7 buggy, I'd still post just to **** you guys off. :laugh3: I have to get some enjoyment/value out of my 2 yr membership and how better way than to make you guys suffer? No really, I'll watch and use the pm feature more and so the threads stay more on topic, sorry guys.

I didn't say that Cow Mountain had Asbestos. Thanks for the info on Asbestos Letterman. Where is that area in Cali you are talking about?

Dag Troy,
Your on this F'ing board more then I am. How about this, try to do some research on off road parks! Trails! Spend less time on your posts and more on other sites to get informed. Look up the Clear Creek Management Area, I was at hollister with you, it is not too far from that park.

Remember I took shots of your junk!!

Leave the dog at home! Them things don't have hands to hold on to shit, when you go over! I have seen the worst shit ever, some fools had a roll at buck at midnight, and the dogs leg was hanging on by just some hair, girls crying, dog yelp'ing, they gave it some asprin and had to walk it out Tahoe side! Leave the dog home or tie it down!

So you got your rig all hooked up, sometimes it is better to read and learn, then post shit that bugs people, or maybe you are here to as you say "make you guys suffer."

Because you were late to that run you miss me floped in a creek blowing smoke like a mo fo!

My shit is junk, $500 is what I paid for it! I try not to **** people off, as I may need there help some day.

Ok now I am the one that took this thread way the F off topic, Jess feel free to delete it. I will go back to the den now!

Thanks for posting those pics Letterman. I still cannot get over you got your rig for $500, that is awesome, plus it's a 91' HO too right?
That's the only time I brought my dog "Danny" on a run. I heard about that dog on the Con, man that sucks. Sorry to get you guys so ****ed off. I value NAXJA and you guys, I don't mean to irritate.

So who and when and where are we going to wheel this winter people??? Start looking at the calendars and see when you're free to wheel.

Chad, a guy that I was close to trading my CJ for his 4Runner sent me this nice picture of his truck on the Morman Immigrant trail. The snow pic is at the bottom of the thread on the same page:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294923

Malokoff Diggins isn't too far from this trail too as if Prairie City just to get a little muddy before we head for the snow run if people want. Just remember to hose your jeep off good by brining your own hose. The park has plenty of water outlets. I still have mud on the back of my radiator that I didn't wash out and my rig was getting really hot. I then installed some Lebaron hood vents, but the temp only really got back to normal when I washed all the mud from the backside of my radiator.

What got your panties in a bunch David?:) I am the one that got the two places confused in my garbled mind, not Troy, so guess you should have been yelling at me about Clear Creak Vs. Cow Mountain and breathing in the crud. Sorry all and I guess I will have to buy the first rounds.

Can we get back to topic now? Can anyone throw out some official dates for runs. Go ahead and be brave and pick a date.

November 27th. It's a Saturday, Thanksgiving weekend. Send the wife and kids to the mall, or whatever it is you do with wives and kids.
Location is TBD, depending on numbers. If it's just me, I know a place up the road from my folks' house. If it's a decent group, I'll head up to the Sierras.

Thanks Dan. I'll got a cold for you. :) 27th sounds good Phil want to hit PP? How's your rig coming along, I haven't seen you in awhile.

Can anyone do anything on thurs-friday as well 11/25-26? Does anyone want to go to Prairie City for a bit and fling some mud around? Hollister Hills would also be cool, but if we go to PP, we can also make our way out to a snow run like to Bowman Lake or Morman Immigrant etc. Come on guys, you aren't all tearing your rigs apart already for the Winter are you? There's still alot of fun to be had on some nice day runs.

I'm not looking to do any rock type wheeling until I get my case drop out and mount up the skid plate. Maybe someone can help me get that done?

I'm still running my disco 30 with 260 joints, so I don't want to beat on that too hard either.

I juess some just like to put up lots of posts? We see the same info and the same things we have all read on one post on one thread but then we read it again and again.
I am not ripping on you Dan you just asked the question, and I think there is no bad questions, only bad answers if you really don't know what your talking about!
Oh and Dan you should know about Clear Creak, that was where moose had his $13,000 tow bill for his TJ!!! but that is another story all together.

Now here comes the 5 posts explaning it to me . . . :dunce:

You'll be find Phil with your setup. The snow is fun, remember how well you did in your MJ on the Bowman Lake trail? What a night that was getting lost, getting to a gas station, and your rig going up. That last part really sucked, sorry man, but you rebounded well with your xj. Are you up for that trail again? You have spare axle shafts right, you'll be fine. I have some 297 shafts, not a bad time to get those in there if you bust your 260's.

OMG just STFU already. We don't want to here about the Bowman lake loop, or malakoff diggins, or the mud in your radiator, or the hydrolocked yj you traded for the cj you're going to trade for a 4runner pictured on the malakoff diggins trail, or how setup someone will be if they pickup the d44 in the PnP. And we certainly don't want to here it 500,000,000 times - IN THE SAME FREAKIN THREAD!!!!

Oh yeah, Asbestos on the trail is never going to hurt you unless you literally choke on it, if dust from wheelin makes you sick for days maybe you shouldn't be 4wheelin.

I should have kept my Landcruiser.

Whatever, you and Letterman going on lecturing me isn't helping either. I know you look for a quick laugh about my posts, but I guess I have been pretty memorable with you reciting my more important aspects. I'm impressed Jason. :laugh3:
I know I talked alot of stuff before, but that's in the past. I'll try to keep more on topic, but you guys are polluting the threads as well. Stop critiquing my stuff and lets get back to wheeling. I said what I was going to say, it's way past my bed time and I'm getting cranky!
