Wife got scammed... whats our recourse?

Heres the story. My wife and I cloth diaper our infant daughter. As she grows out of the size she is currently in my wife either sells them on a registered diaper site, or trades with other mothers on specific "diaper swap" facebook pages. We have had great luck up until recently. Then my wife sent out around $70 worth of diapers and we got squat.
The way it usualy works is both parties send out their packages via usps. Each purchasing the delivery confirm # to verify and track shipment. This woman that she swapped with sent her a bunk track number, and has we found done this with several other women.
I have her home address, I have a plethora of info from facebook (before we got blocked), I have her phone number, wich when we called it the woman who answered said its not her... ( I reverse dialed the number and the long-lat provided in the free search pin to her house).
Do we have any legal recourse? Any ideas guys?

Your best bet is to file a complaint with the postal service. Using the mail to commit a crime is taken very seriously. They have their own cops (US Postal Inspectors) and they are pretty hardcore.

Thats what I was thinking. Just wasnt quite sure if it fell under mail fraud because no money traded hands?

still fraud, go talk with the local postmaster. The fact that you have a fake tracking number is basically an admission from the other party that this was not a "gift" that you sent, and that you had an agreement to trade goods. Take any and all correspondence that you have had.

usually got to be over 500 bucks, I got scammed a long time ago on a winch on JU forum supposedly from a guy in Utah and was told less than 500 Bucks USPS wouldn't touch. and this was with a postal MO that was cashed at a Wal-mart in South Layton, Utah

Maybe get other people involved and the fraud will be over $500 threshold to get the PO involved.

I never understood what people are thinking pulling a scam then giving out their home address... You may be out of state but you now have her home address.

even if it's not over $500, a pattern of defrauding a bunch of people using the mail system will get their attention.

It seems assinine to me to pull something like this when using home address as well. On a side note, for all of you facebook users take a hard look at what info you have posted. I was able to assertain most of her family by photo tags, got cell phone number, email addy, ect. Using that info I was able to get even more info via free public searches. It is amazing what kind of info trail some people leave behind themselves.

There was a thread on some snowboard forum where a guy was scamming people and bragging about it. The guys on the forum used the scammers facebook info to eventually find his home address. They were posting pictures of his house(google street view) and posting his families information and all sorts of stuff. All with some basic info posted on bogus facebook account they were able to then find his Real account and dig deeper. I wish I could find that site again.

Do we have any naxja folks around the ladys house that could maybe help you? They could go by to see if she needs help to mail your stuff to you, know what i mean.Just thinking outloud. She may need a hand thats all

I have that and more. I was amazed at just how easy it was to pull vital info on a persons life using basic searches, and a little leg work. Just saying people, be aware of what you and your family are putting on the internet. Its scary to think what I could do if I were a malicious person.

Thanks for the offer but I think it would be wise to keep others out of this. I imagine that there would be some one close though. We seem to be everywhere. ha ha

I think there is a fraud report on the FBI's site. I had to go submit a report once. They had the local PD call me in about a week or so time. Similar circumstances. Guy tried to scam me.

I love the diaper-wenzel... ha ha. Although the postmaster doesnt want to get involed with it at this point, these ladies are doing some PBB esque backdooring to this woman. More power to em.:firedevil

Ive been avoiding implicating myself in any maliciousness, but I have found that i can stir one mean ass pot of s%$t. I figure that a large group of mothers who are home all day on the interweb can come up with way more interesting ideas than I can ever fathom. They say to never get between a cub and its mother for a reason right?
