Who still owns a Renix or 84-96 XJ?

You need a BFH on a small region of the firewall. You have to swap the hood and front support. All in all, if you have a donor and body working skills, it isn't all that hard.

I have an 85 4 door. It started off life as a 2.5L carb'd. I updated it to a purple cam, headers, and fuel injection. Later sold the engine & trans and built a 4.L stroker back in about 2003. I have close to 200k on the stroker. I am finishing up my third paint job on it. I built everything including boat sides bumpers and suspension. I have .25" cold roll skids from the engine back past the tcase. It has a modified Ford Radius arm suspension that I love.

It has locked dana44's front and rear with an AW4 on 35's and hydraulic assist.
Here it is. I am refreshing the paint.

I keep the inside and outside almost like new. Body work is an obsession for me and I own a commercial steam cleaner. I was daily driving it on a 110 mile round trip commute.

Ah the BFH method.
Could have sworn it was more involved. I know the hood and core support was changed.

Interestingly when I was hunting a used 4.0 recently on car-part there was a listing for a 90s ho 4.0, notes said it was out of a 84. Maybe it was worded in a 84.

I got 87' pioneer...190k still runs strong...love this jeep...
Only thing i want to do is convert the cooling system..to a newer open system..ive gone through 2 coolant recovery bottles...jeep has always ran cool...even crawling! I think the plastic is cheap in the recovery bottles...but all in all the renix is a good system once you learn how to maintain electrical parts..
There is a modification that uses a 90 or so grand am coolant tank (has been on my jeep for 5 years ) That doesn't have the problems a factory one has.

There is a conversion to a 1990 grand am bottle that will solve your problems ( been running it on my xj for 5 years without a problem )

Can we get this moved to non-tech..

Still driving our 1990 Limited, bought it in 2006. My wife did not realize we were buying an adventure.

A buddy of mine just got rid of his Xj. It was one of the first 100 ever built. He bought it new.

I have a 89 4.0. I had it for about 4 years. I love it, I plan to keep her as long as possible

Looks like its a spare he keeps in an EMP proof container. If the SHTF, you replace your fried one with the one that was in the container. If it's an auto, I suspect a TCU would need to be saved too.
A metal ammo can will suffice for EMP protection. The cheap way out is to simply wrap it in tin foil and put it in a ziplock bag to protect it from moisture and dirt.

Before you guys get all hung up on EMP and nuclear war, a big solar flare could do the same thing. If that happens, we are all screwed anyway.

My '89 Waggie with 303K on the clock is still going strong with original engine and drivetrain. Father-in-law bought it new and I got it from him with almost 200k on the clock. She runs great and goes just about anywhere I point her!
