Looking to up grade. Would like some opinions on the subject.

I always recommend going with Dana when you can! Also,if your doing your own gears than it makes set-up "Alot" easier too!

What about Yukon's? I was going to go with Dana's but the guy doing my gears say's the Yukons set up very nice.

Randy's Ring and Pinion sells parts under the Yukon name. Yukon parts are actually whatever brand Randy thinks are the best value/quality. So, when ordering Yukon many times you will get Dana gears.

Dana gears are definitely the way to go if they fit your application. Anything Superior is also good (D30 4.88's). Precision and Richmond are OK, but I'd stay away from Genuine Gear.

I've got Yukon 4.88's in the TJ and the quality is great. I've had em in for over 20K and have changed my diff fluid twice, and haven't had any shavings and can't see any wear at all. I'm going to get 4.56 Yukon gears for the XJ soon.

Yukon = Dana in most Dana applications.

CRASH

Im sure the flaming will follow, but I thought I would ring in <pun>

I had a few probs with my Spicer sets. I went through 3 sets in 7 years.
I have a Precision Gear Set now. Havent run them yet.
All the circle track guys here in town swear by them

I put a set of "Yukon" 4.88's in my 30 and 44 just last summer. So far so good. Rerend was a little dirty on the last oil change, but that was the second oil change, and the first major set of miles since the actual break in change. The front has been changed several times due to knocking the cover loose so I never got a chance to put a good set of miles on one oil change in that diff.

what about US GEAR are they ok that what I was thinkin I was going to put in mine.

I have 4:56 US Gears in my Metric Ton M20 rear and they are noisy at 55+.....gear whine is how I'd best describe it. They were like this from the beginning and I had the pattern checked, it's perfect. I just did the yearly fluid change and filtered the used fluid through a pantyhose to check for debris........very clean with no metal frags. US Gear did later admit to a "noise issue" with the M20 gear sets........

You were expecting great things from THIS rearend?

Yo Buzzboy, you mean great things like "dynamic punkin' rotation"?
My tubes are welded to the center section, unlike the FoMoCo rear, dear.
And the R&P is beefier that your 8.8 or a 44. Let's compare one piece 29 spline shafts....oh, looky at your C-clips, how cute!
I do like the SVO disc kit though.......only downside I've seen is the pig is a little girthy, could use a shavin' for better ground clearance.

Rivethead is acting a little frisky, is he?

Everyone should have an 8.8 instead of a Model 20 or D44........unless you want to use it hard!!! :D :D :D

I wouldn't use US Gear.

Dana, Precision, or Richmond are good gears.
