726.06 mi x 2 = 1452.12 miles

1452.12 mi / ~250mi/tank = 5.8 call it 7 tanks of gas because I will need to fill up when I get home, plus another 1 or 2 in Moab to wheel on, 9

9 tanks of gas at a low average of $55.00/tank = $495.oo

I can't afford this at least not this year! Hope to see you in '08

Yeah...I lied. I'm definately not going. have fun guys.

So who's going? When you leaving? Anyone want to caravan up on Wed?
Michaelle and I are leaving Saturday morning. Want to be in Moab before sundown.
Trust me when I tell you to leave the night before and spend that night either in Las Vegas or Mesquite. Breaking the drive into two days in muy helpful.

Anything special I need to prepare for?
Don't bother to bring food. City Market is a great resource to stop at before you hit the trail.
Prepare for any kind of weather. It's likely to be t-shirts during the day and medium jackets at night, but you never know what may happen.

Not sure what day we're leaving, but we did it last time as LA->LV, LV->Moab and that was pretty good. We'll do it that way again, if we actually get to go...

Man I would be tempted to go, gas prices aside. But my truck has been so finickey lately that I don't trust it on a 5 hour drive much less 10+. Ive gone through pretty much the entire cooling system in the last month and my brakes are starting to get funny again. So unless someone wants to haul my rig for me :P

If I can make it I will take my RV and at 55 gallons in the tank at an average of, well say 3.10 per gal = 170 per fill. I get about 450 miles per tank I should make it on 2 tanks - 340 each way. Then I gotta fill the jeep at least once (will be full when I leave) so that is another 60.

So the fuel alone is close to 750. Plus camping, food, and ohhh the beer I gotta smuggle in to utah.

Hope I can make it...

And suddenly car pooling makes so much more sense.

how many xjs can we tow with the rv? :D

depends on the rig, some only have a 5000 tong an some have a 10,000..
So get a diesel an you can haul 4 on the right trailer,i seen a guy going towards vegas
on the back roads by amboy

i was thinking we just hook em all together with tow bars like abig chain of xjs and tow 10 or 15 of em up there. i'd be willing to chip in at least $20 on gas.

Count me in on the XJ Train :P

 Hey what CB Channel you guys running. I figure we'll see at least one of you guys on the way up. Somebody pick a channel to monitor if we see one of our own we can give a shout.
