And a few more.

I most likely passed some of you on my way out to SoCal Fest. I saw a few nice lookin rigs headed towards JV on the 247.

went to lawrence welk this weekend with my buddy Ross, Sean, and RHD Julio. did a lot of the same trails, and a couple new ones thanks to julio. good times. finally got a chance to flex out the new suspension (before i change it again).

looking good there Dan, nice flex. Have you noticed any stress cracks or binding on your shock towers?

thanks man!
not at all, they aren't going to budge. the main piece spans the whole section of the rear frame from in front of where the front leaf spring shackle was basically to the rear one, and is gusseted to the side and to the top of the frame rail, as well as to the sides of the body. it isnt going anywhere. if you saw it in person i'm pretty sure you'd agree. the worst part is the tires rub on the springs a little when fully flexed, but it isnt bad at all. it pretty much has to be flexed like it is below.

front needs more work, but i just ordered the springs for the front coilovers so i will be doing those soon.

I passed lawrence welk exit , kinda figuered there some good offshoots out there nice flex i was hoping to see your rig when picking up the door maybe next time

Nice!! Too bad that's 7 hours away from me--looks like good camping!

This weekend I wheeled my Jeep to North San Diego County, and installed the 3.5" leaf springs I just got.

Hope your old leafs were better than your old shocks :anon:
Um. No. Not particularly.

My "lift" in the back was: 1.5" shackles, worn 1" lift springs, and 1" lift blocks.

Springs were as flat as a 6-year-old, with worn bushings, and I'd managed to break off 1/3 of one of the 1" lift blocks.

But hey, the shackles (which I bought new for my Carbeque XJ, and which survived the "burned to the floorboards" just fine) are in great shape, still!

Went camping and took the new guns I bought for a test drive out near Lovell Canyon Road. This morning started down on Goodsprings Road, and up Cottonwood Pass, I was planning to run Potosi Mtn Rd and then back up the other side, but my front driveshaft decided it no longer wanted to be connected to the T-case so I bailed at Goodsprings.

Went home and replaced the bolts holding the driveshaft on, ate some food, and went back out on Lucky Strike Mine Rd to watch the eclipse. Unfortunately my camera wasn't good enough to capture it, but still good to watch.

Sorry for the lousy picture, my camera died so I was using my GPS

Spencer and I went to JV for a night run. Got there at 2 am, started aftershock at 3, done by 4:30, got done with claw around 6 to get a good sunrise picture. Ran chocolate thunder, then headed home.

Danny (s7tech) and I went up to Big Bear on Saturday. Ran Deep Creek and Holcomb Creek pretty quickly. Only problem was at the top of the waterfall on Deep Creek. It just seemed really dug out and eroded, so the crevices were pretty deep. I somehow got my truck in a really bad position and felt like I was on the verge on flopping. But Danny and his buddy Heath did a good job of getting me out of there unscathed.

We entered John Bull from the west end and were making good time. But we encountered a group of vehicles stopped at the notch. They were changing a torn tire and the word was there were more than 30 vehicles backed up at Gatekeeper waiting to enter the trail. We decided that the best course of action was to turn around and go back out the way we came.

We made our way back to 3N16 and entered Gold Mountain at the north end. We made it through and back to the Disco Center by about 3 pm. And we had started at 9 am. It was a good day of wheeling with no real carnage. No pictures because I already have a bazillion pictures of Big Bear.

Wish I could have made it, sounds like a good time.
