Between working 10 hour days and commuting, working out of state, moving, and sleeping, less and less ours are available. I also have a non-XJ project that has been eating up my time.

Unless checking oil and water levels are considered working on it........not much, Dad put new front brakes on it last fall while I was working after nearly blowing a light next to a cop a few days before (I think the front pads had to be smoking on that stop, I think the cop's nose must have been plugged, it was VERY obvious it I worked what was left hard!) Still needs rear brakes, but time has been at a premium last few months do to nearly losing Mom between Easter and Mother's Day and her recovery since then.

...when it is broken or I get an idea to "improve" something that works fine...

I would never. I pay a lot of money for these perfect cuticles.

The XJ seems to need more attention and money than I can give to it. That narrows the choice down to "whenever I can."

I think this should have been one of those multiple choice poles. Because, I work on them when they need it, also work on them when I have time and/or money.

I guess I can't pick just one.

Whenever I have money I tend to buy stuff thats not mission critical or just things I 'want' to add or upgrade.

Time is always an issue so when I have time I try and be productive, I might not 'need' to do certain projects but if I have the time to kill I might as well go in the garage and be productive.

Certainly when something needs fixed or is scheduled (oil changes and such) then I will just have to.

I've only had to ever do minor things on the trail, knock on wood, but if it happen it happens and has to be fixed.

If I have nothing better to do sometimes I will go tinker and do a check some PMI, nothing wrong with checking things over, hitting grease fittings and just taking a clean rag over odds and ends.

^^This^^
When work is busy, I'll only do what's absolutely necessary, but have the money to buy lots of parts which sit in my garage until work slows down. Then I do a bunch of stuff to all three of them.

Invalid poll.

No where is the option about "until I run out of beer" nor is there "Bacon."

I keep hitting refresh but your threads are not showing up.

I drained the oil from the Waggy on Monday night. Then went inside. Tuesday night we made a purple cake. Last night we did not. Maybe tonight I will try to remove the oil filter. Maybe not.

Looks like "When Dad Has The Time Do It" needs to be added to the list.........he went to use mine and thought the battery was dead, turns out he discovered the starter solenoid is dead today while I was keeping an eye on Mom for him and he won't be able to fix it until Napa opens tomorrow while I'm working.........
