Count me in for SD.
I too checked into SD for a wheeling trip for . I couldn't find anyone who wheeled there. I contacted the Jeep club that runs the Dakota Challenge. They said they were not willing to help because they were afraid to let the word out about the trails there. I contacted the BLM or some agency like that and they were real pricks. They said if we had a certain amount of people attending we would need a permit. I said no problem. They said oh ya, were not issuing any permits. I said fine, we'll limit the number of people so we don't need a permit. They said we really want you to work with us on this. I said, ya right, I was trying to work with you but you won't issue us a permit. I said if you issue a permit we'll work with you. They said no go, so I said then what do I need you for. I even tried to talk to the people who help out with the Jambo there, of course they just wanted money. They wanted to affiliate with them. Another, ya right!
SOOOOO, I would love to run SD as an official event or as a trail finding mission. That is provided I can get off of work whichever week it is planned for. If it's outside of the typical vacation season I'm sure I'll make it. I'm low on the senority list now ya know.
