What's this leaking?

Did anybody notice the big crack in the transmission?:dunno:

It could just be lighting I guess, but from the first pic, it looks like a big hole in the tranny.

I see what your talking about lol. Its not a hole/crack, just a funky shadow from another part of the case.

If your leaking from in between the transfercase and transmission, tightening down the bolts won't stop the leak. There is a weep hole in the flange of the trans to let out leaking fluid from the output shaft seal of the transmission. I would bet that's what's leaking. You will have to pull the transfercase to replace the seal.

That?

Thats a shadow. I would reccomend replacing the fluid in the trans if you never have. Redline MTL or MT90 works great

This past friday the roads were fairly slick so i decided to drive it home in 4wd. After doing that it stopped leaking a signifigant amout. It'll usually be 2-3 drops. Sometimes it doesn't leak at all.

The leaking started back up again. This time it's pretty bad. After school I'll clean it up and see if i can locate the leak. I'll check the T-case blots again. If I have no luck I'll probably take it to the shop, which I'd hate to do.

Go power wash everything, go buy a florescent light dye kit from Napa or wherever and put half the bottle in the transmission and half the bottle in the t case, drive it around a minute and get under it with the flashlight the dye comes with and see EXACTLY where its coming from.

Just my $.02

Id even maybe do 1/2 in the tcase first, drive it. If nothing shows up then you know its a transmission related leak... thinking about it I'm not totally sure if the dye is OK in a transmission??? But I'm sure it would say on the box, and I'm confident it is OK, just not 100% sure
