Whatcha need to get done for WF...

I planned on changing it myself but wanted to be sure it was safe to drive home (about 4 miles)(I will have to find a friend for bleeding them as I have never bleed brakes by myself before and it isn't a one person job). Will pick up new calipers tomorrow as Autozone has both in stock.

They make a one man bleeder tool. Harbor Freight carries them I believe.

Advance carries the one man bleeder, 'Zone may also. I bought one years ago and it lives in my trail toolbox, very handy item.

I could load up now and be just fine with the 'wheeling' that I do anymore.

Wish list:

- New coils - DONE
- Front bumpstops - DONE
- Install tire carrier
- Drop brackets
- Install WJ UCAs

Add:

- Mount/balance 33s.
- Trim fenders if necessary.
- Both front axleshaft u-joints.
- Service f/r diffs.
- Fix trans pan leak, or at least fill it up :D

Ok thanks to Brennen for the smoking deal I have more stuff to do.

Rear disk conversion
Rear Cromo axel shafts
Traction bar
Change all fluids
Wash the "Cliffs" Off her.....

ive bought them both places...they are a life saver when you have to install a new caliper in the middle of a down pour in an advanced parking lot 500 miles from home. aaaaah memories

I really need to get started on my list. Now that t-case has been replaced hopefully I can get everything else ready and done.

okay...so i think plans have changed a bit. i'm cleaning out the garage this week and if the purple jeep turns out to only need a head gasket, then i'm going to just change it and bring it mostly as is. it has front tow hooks installed, but would need a rear tow point as well. i will probably just pull the hitch off the tan xj...

this is all contingent on me getting some time to drive it. i'm going to pull a small uhaul trailer there with all the parts i have to bring for people so i don't want the first trip to be a complete meltdown lol. if it works out then this is the new list

-install head gasket
-replace manifold
-rig up a tail pipe to pass inspection
-bleed brakes (they have a lot of air in them but pads and such look fine)
-install rear hitch
-find a set of 31's to wheel with that will go to the manche after the trip...

i'm sure i will find more things to do but this should be fairly easy to do in a month as long as i can get the garage finished tomorrow

So started getting a weird humming i
From the front end today. Got new axle u joints and hub bearings, it happens if i shift in and out of 4 Hi(NP231). Sounds like trouble, that i cannot diagnose. So gotta fix that. And need to replace steering box and spacer, and add front tow points. Ohh and dont forget the CB. I feel very ill equiped and unprepared for winterfest

You'll get it done. I'm usually working on my junk up till I leave for WF.

Fixed my trail damage and tossed in a new master to see if that'll fix my brake issue. Going to the Cliffs this weekend for a shakedown run. Till then, I don't think I have anything else to do?

well crap...i pulled my extinguisher out while cleaning today and discovered it lost its charge. i don't think its the kind that can be recharged, so it looks like i need a new one. what do ya'll usually do with old extinguishers?

All the way or just a little? Extinguishers are temperature sensitive.

Tried replacing the brakes up front, but got air in the lines somewhere and can't it out. Took it up to a shop to finish. Did get new lines, calipers, pads and one rotor on last weekend. This should be the last thing I need done before WF.

Come to the badlands the 8th for a shake down run to make sure. I'm going with a small group

-insulate truck camper
How do you plan on doing that?

I have been thinking about the pink insulation board but not sure how to do it so it still looks good. Being a popup truck camper it lets in a lot of air thru the canvas, not really made for cold weather, haha. On cold nights I sleep on the table, put the top down and the heat up.

Jeep modification progress has been minimal for the last couple years, just Maintenance really. No big changes this year before winterfest.

-tighten up the steering
-oil change
-bleed the brakes, adjust the rears

I picked up some rolls of Reflectix at Lowe's. I'm using it in a few places in the camper. First place is wrapping it behind the cushions of the dinette/lower bunk, under the mattress in the top bunk and over the front bunk window, and interior of the upper cabinets and closets. I'm also planning on using the pink insulation board in the outside compartments and the utility spaces under the front bench and dinette seating. Then either using the shrinky plastic kits for the windows or making plexiglass storm windows.

-Replace battery tray (Junkyard)
-Maybe add another leaf to the Rusty's springs - We'll see
-lower rear bumpstops - Done
-straighten out front bumper, dropped off ledge too hard - It doesn't look that bad
-Replace LCA's - Done
-Replace front springs - at WF
-Replace motor mount
