What was your first vehicle....?

1967 Mustang - Red

It Started in the family with my older brother and 60,000 original miles. My dad bought it off a woman who widowed a car salesman who had it on blocks.

My older brother (non-mechanical redneck that he is) dragged it alot jacked it up in the back and general abused it.

I got it and found that he had never!!!! changed or checked the oil in the 3 years that he owned it and the 287 was hammered so I dropped a 302 in it with headers and a cobra dress up kit. Leveled it out and replaced the leather seats, dash, and sterring wheel. All original style of course from a mustang resto shop. Had that baby purring.

My little brother (non-mechanical at the time but quickly getting there because he recently purchased a 62 lincoln Continental) totaled it out when he and some buddies took it out drinking at 15.

I was at school at the time and did not come home that often. It was a year after the wreck that I was finally told that the car was gone. It still brings a hush over the family when discussed and I am present.

Red over white over red 1982 Chevy S-10 pickup with the well-loved GM 2.8L V6, complete with uber-tacky aluminum camper shell and vinyl seats. Was mighty happy to get rid of that and move up to an '87 Toyota 4x4 X-Cab pickup...

Hey i had a 66 Dart also.

66 Dodge Dart 2dr, 225 cuin slant six, auto. Parents gave it to me in 1975 when I was stationed in Virginia, drove it there from San Francisco and it became the liberty vehicle of the barracks, had many travels without me. Gave it to my brother in 1977 when I got my CJ7, it had over 200K miles on it. He got hit and the car was totaled in less than six weeks. Oh well. Miss the old Dodge, it along with my four daughters would really make me feel like Al.

Just sold the CJ last year so I could buy my current XJ.

1980 Chevy Luv Mikado 4x4. My dad bought it in 1988 and commuted 100 miles round trip to work in it for a little while before we moved. The truck was given to me in 1994 when I got my driver license. It has a 1.8litre 4 banger motor. I put a three inch body lift on it just to fit 215/75/15 BFGs on it, stock it came with 195/75/14 tires. I beat on that truck and drove it daily until 1997, (My dad also bought a 1981 Luv 4x4 when I was in high school which we beat on as well), then it became my second vehicle when I bought a minivan off my parents, that minivan was a waaaaay cool factor in college. I traded the minivan in on a 95 Taurus in 1998 and drove that until 1999 when I bought my 1995 XJ. All this time the Luv was driven on and off as a second vehicle and was taken to attica and wheeled in may of 1999 and october of 1999 (where the frame was bent and cracked). When I rolled my Jeep I started driving my parents 1979 Ford Bronco which they eventually gave me and I daily drove (including towing my Jeep 1500 miles in July of 2002 to camp jeep), in Nov of 2002 I bought a 99 Dodge Dakota which I traded off for a 2000 f150 in June of 2003. So currently I own the 2000 f150, the 79 Ford Bronco, the 95 XJ, the 1980 Chevy Luv, along with a car trailer and a 5x8 utility trailer.

I learned to drive a stick on a family friends 1984 Ford Bronco II in the spring of 1994, cause I love fords and wanted to say that I learn to drive a stick on a Ford instead of a Chevy.

My dads first truck, which he also still has is a 1995 Willys Truck with the hurricane flat head 226 inline six, its in their garage for the time being.

Glad to see I am not the only Luv driver. Mine was a 1982 Chevy Luv Mikado. It was the first year that Chevy started using the Isuzu Pup body. Had a diesel engine and was a 4x4. It turned the sky black when I started it, I had to put a quart of oil in it every day, and fill the front tires up every other day. The back bed was lined with orange shag carpet.

We just sold it yesterday after we put a new diesel in it, and some new tires. POS, but it got me from A to B, and then back to A every day.

Fergie

Actually, 1981 was the first year for the Luv/Isuzu pup body style....cause we had one of them too, both were gas, the 81 had working factory a/c.....

both were POS, but got from A to B most of the time....

you know when I was in Moab last week I must have seen half a dozen luvs running around... and even in Moab they had rust on em...

Glenn,
Sorry for the late answer, been away (TAD) on work. No was a column shift Dart. I believe '64 was when Chrysler stopped the push button shifts.

My first car was a totally rotted out 1976 Honda Civic CVCC. It was so rotted the shift linkage rotted out and broke on me. I got it for $75 in 1984 when I was 15 from a place called the West Allis Auto Club. It's a place where gear heads work on their cars (I'm still a member there). The car was donated to them.

To this day I cannot figure out how Honda stayed in buisness much less earned a reputation for great cars selling crap like that. It was rotted out AND it ran like crap and it was only 8 years old and had less that 100,000 miles.

The worst part was everyone thought I was an ass for driving a Japanese car back then. Now everyone thinks I'm an ass because I won't. I can win!

1980 Ford Bronco 4 x 4 .. retired forest service vechile on the inside .. could literally climb a wall if i got the approach right .. other then that it looked just like the one from the Oj Simpson trials .. btw i got it right after the OJ trials

89 Plymouth Sundance with the turbo. Thing had spunk. Aquired it from the older sister. Then went to a 96 XJ, now im on the 01 XJ.

'83 Honda Accord. Lowered 3" with loud ass thumpin system. It was one of the 1st rice burning street machines back in '90.

Then I grew up.

'67 Mustang with flintstone floors, 351W and C6 from '69 Galaxy, Holley 650 2-bbl, homemade dual exhaust, and lincoln locker.

A 1972 Datsun pickup. I paid $400 for it. It was in pretty good shape for what it was, but it was smurf blue. I paided my parents house (4000 sq ft  ) and they paid me $600 and I got it a new paint job. Then for my birthday I got new wheels and tires for it. It looked MUCH better, but it was still a POS and way too small. I replaced it with a Blazer with 88K on it that I got for $1500 in perfect condition except a blown engine. Put a new engine in it and I was set. It got me through high school, college, and a lot of abuse. :laugh2:
