What was your first vehicle....?

okay most ofy you young uns, 69 Singer Gazelle. in Scotland. a variety of Land Rovers followed that car, but it had twin webers of a 1750 Gt model and could outrun the cops anywhere in Scotland. First car in this country 71 Dodge Dart .

1961 Prinz - micromobile that I eventually turned into a permanent parade float by chopping the roof off then welding rebar and chicken wire all over it in a footbal helmet shape.

s/root/roof (sheesh, it's early I guess)

1973 Merc Comet GT bird Sh#* yellow with black stripes 3 in the floor and 8 track.

1959 English Ford Consul. One of the back doors wouldn't latch properly, which made it exciting for the passengers when I drove around corners.

RNMedic: My brother had a late-50's Gazelle convertable - strange car, it had a four speed shift on the column that was backward from every other car we had seen. We had a lot of fun with it though.

We used to shop the 8-dollar sales in San Jose. Dealers would sell cars for $8, $18, $28, etc. Usually the $8 cars were pretty bad, but above that, they were good for 6 months or a year maybe.

1958 Volvo 544
Bought it when I was 15 for $300. It had a blown engine but the body was straight. It came with a rebuilt engine, so by the time I got my license a year later I had it all swapted out. Between the Volvo and the Triumphs (cars) that followed, I was almost thirty before I had ever touched a down draft Carberator. I've still got that "UniSyn" in a tool box somewhere.

'67 Pontiac Le Mans. 2 door,326 V-8,Powerglide tranny (w/floor shifter). Loved that car! I still have the chance to buy it back if I want to,but it's in a very sad state at the moment, and I don't think I've got the will power to do all that needs to be done to it :(

'78 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham 4dr with 6 way power velour seats. :D It even had the rear wheel skirts. Man was I pimpin' in High School.

I bought it from my dad in '83 on a payment plan once I got a real job.

1969 International Travelall with a Chevy 350 Engine putting out about 320HP. It had a Chevy automatic tranny and a B&M racing shifter. It was lifted quite a bit and had 35" tires on it. My dad decided he wanted something newer and had bought a Suburban. He was in the process of trying to sell this, but I got to drive it for a few months before it sold. I'd still love to have that back.

'88 Pontiac Grand Prix SE, bought from the guy down the street for $700. Slightly more pick-up than you'd expect from the 2.8 V6, and being the SE it had all the gadgets in it... drove it about a week, then the right front tire blew out one morning on the way to work and I plowed down a 4' concrete mailbox and slightly bent the concrete light pole behind it. Chalk it up to inexperience, I guess....

.... which led me to buy Car #2: the '88 XJ :D - still 99% stock and probably staying that way for a while, not many rocks to drive over in Orlando anyway.

First car was a 73 T-Bird 429 4 bbl for $700 1983 dollars. What a POS... Had the hood fly up at 60 MPH (they have a BIG hood) then had a brake rotor disintegrate...IIRC I sold it for $50, but I think my folks would have paid me $100 to "just get it out of the driveway"

First Jeep was a pair of stock 46 and 48 Flattys for $1000 '95 dollars. Both POS too, come to think of it...but the 48 was solid and ran. I could still probably get them back if I wanted a divorce.

First 'real' bikes were a 76 KTM/Penton 400 when I was 15 and a 81 KZ1000J when I was 19. Lots of fun...

Fugly 80somethin plymouth horizon that caught fire a week after I bought it. Luckily(bleech) I found another one to frankenstein both of them together to make the car that would make sure I would stay unpopular and lonely in highschool. I bet I've owned more cars than just about any one.

86 nice s-10 with nice 350 bought for $1000 from a spoiled college kid, his dad was po-ed but said it was better i get it than his son keep it. my wife loved that truck but sold it to buy a toyota 4x with 6" lift. then we got pregnant and she couldnt get up into it.
funny i cant remember all of them....there was another olds in there, a chevy full size camper special truck...it seems like everytime I got something built and running right some one would offer me some cash or another prize and I'd be back at the bone yard looking for parts.

any surprize that years later i wound up with my little used car business

First love

We owned a garage so my first car was whatever we had taken in that week. The first car with my name on the title was a '69 Gord Galaxy 500 with a 351 windsor. I drove the rat crap out of it going thru Wyoming to my parents house in Billings, MT, at over 100 mph on my weekends off from college. I know what it must feel like to have the helm of a battleship.

1967 Scout 800 with a 152 ci motor, 4.88 gears, and a 3speed
t-90 tranny.

1955 Willys wagon with a 265 ci Chevy V8. Bought it for $500 the week I graduated from high school. Wheeled it, broke it, rolled it......just like the XJ that I have now. :D

I'll let someone else tell Kejtar what a Horizon is. Damn, that wasn't that long ago, was it?

As for the guy who owned all the cars, I'll bet a bunch of us can match or exceed his list. Willys Wag, '56 Chev, '56 Buick, '57 Buick, '56 VW van, '49 Kaiser (nice car), Nissan 210, Nissan 710, Audi 5000, Toy Cressida, '86 Dodge van conv, '88 Corolla, MB 450 SLC, 2-Toy Camrys, '88 F150 SC, Isuzu sedan, 2-Nissan Sentras, '82 Accord, '96 Contour, Mustang Conv, Windstar, '87 XJ, '88 XJ, '89 XJ, '89 Commanche. :D :D

1965 Pontiac LeMans 2dr post, column 3 speed (later converted to an M21 and Hurst), 326. Maroon with black interior. Bought it with my lawn mowing money - $600 - when I was 14 and was cruisin' in style by the time I got my license.
