What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Tracked down one possible source of the near stopped rubbing-grinding noise on the 87 Wagoneer today, a busted, new AZ brake pad, steel pad was bent as the two caliper bolts came loose, also new (rotor and caliper and hose also new). Got better brake action with new pads (both sides) and 2 new bolts on the side that had the damaged pad and loose bolts, but the rubbing, scraping, rotary grinding sound only at just a near stop with brakes partially engaged (not an emergency stop pedal operation, which is noise free) is back, so will inspect rears when the damn rain and floods stop. Still safe from flooding here at my place but others SW and north of Houston and other parts of Texas are manning the boats and pulling out the pontoons. The rain is dropping on us this time.:(

Passenger front brake line decided to off itself on my way to work this morning.

Towed the whole 2.2 miles back to the house

Yep!

What kind of hose was that? Looks like rigid tubing in the photo.

Second bad brake part found on the 87 Wagoneer today. Loose spring, missing pin.... that holds the front shoe on the rear drum brakes had let the shoe turn sideways about 20 degrees, it was rubbing on the drum. Also explains my lower MPGs recently. All brake noise is gone now, and except for the mushy feel I never solved, I have great brakes now for all the jeeps again. Rain gave us a break here today.

This weather reminds why I want to add carports to the driveway. Was planning a Day at NASA today to launch rockets with my son, alas, paper tube rockets and a lake..pond.... at the field do not mix well. The launch was canceled.Nothing done to my rigs today :(

Changed oil and filter and oil pressure Guage show the same 20. Checked to make sure no leaks and noticed a steady drip coming out of the connector of the oil pressure sending unit.

Makes sense it only reads 20. New one on the way.

I remember doing a bit of rocketry as a kid. It was always a blast, my favorite was a bullpup model. Had a bit of weight in the nose and took off and flew nice and slow, other end of the spectrum was a yankee flew like a bat out of hell. I need to grab some for the boys, sure fun.

On the heep we took it fishing today and upon leaving it decided 3k idle was appropriate. Ugh...it was running so good! So checked tps voltage and it looked good will recheck tomorrow, was sucking air with authority through the iac slot in the throttle body guess a pull and clean is appropriate. Any thing I am missing but vacuum leaks?

Vacuum leaks anywhere (plenty of those to look for), Intake Air temp sensor, and fuel leaking into the vacuum line at the fuel pressure regulator are the ones that gave me high idle issues.

NASA has an NAR club that launches rockets twice a month, weather permitting at NASA. They have a facebook site and web site. Nasa Houston Rocket club.

I loved the spot landing contests and egg lofter altitude contests. Raw egg had to survive with no cracks, undamaged. I ran a hobby shop back then....and was the Tex-Ark regional champion in the junior division (16 YO) 2 years in a row.....Competed in Seattle one summer at 16 in the national contest :-)

Great memories!!!!! Then I discovered girls LOL.:sunshine:
One Adrenalin moment for me was when my rocket glider did a 180 in high winds, and did a dive bomber attack run at the judges table, and put a 1" hole in the table :explosion. I did not get any extra points for the dive bomber live demo LOL.

No leak on mine yet, but I am seeing odd pressures and gauge needle movement that is not typical sometimes, during deceleration. Sensor is a good 10 years old, and 65,000 miles.

Unhooked battery waited ten minutes and rehooked it. Now everything is right again, so what causes a high idle that can be fixed by unhooking the battery? My guess is a sensor fed the computer bad info and it stored that when I unhooked it simply cleared the bad data, but sure don't want it to happen again.

50:50 chance it will return.

Got suspicious about the wandering oil pressure and low pressure at odd times the last few days....tonight the oil dip stick was dry :( Added 3 quarts to reach full mark. My helper had changed the oil filter recently, not sure about the oil being changed....but 3 quarts low????

Zero leaks.

Also my fuel economy fell to 10 mpg this tank and the engine power was low, but is back now that the brakes are fixed. The busted brake parts last week explain all or part of it, but I will be keeping a close on it this tank of gas, mpgs and oil level...87 Wagoneer, my DD right now.

You give it better odds than me. I was thinking 75-25, I will go ahead and clean the throttle body and hope it takes care of it. Also start collecting all the elbows for thr vacuum lines, they are all kind of chalky on the outside but inside seem good. I should probably use my torque app to datalog so I know what is sending the crappy info.

Hope they just forgot to fill it all the way.

I might have found a front drive shaft for my junk. That would be 1/3 of the way to having functional 4WD again.
